Sounds like a leak in your heater core. It's a small radiator-looking unit that delivers hot engine water to your heater. Buy a new one along with a Chilton's manual (Haynes manuals are good too) and walk through the steps to dig the old one out and replace it. Often, if the heater core is going bad you may not be far behind with the rubber hoses throughout the engine, and possibly the radiator itself. It's not a bad idea to check the hoses, and if they seem pretty worn or rotted (take a few hoses off and check the insides) you should consider replacing them all. Also, if the hoses are bad off, you may want a radiator shop to look at the inside of the radiator while you are at it. It's probably a whole system thing, so don't try to cut a corner and replace just one small part of it or you'll be stranded soon enough when something else starts to leak. Finally, if you have overheated the engine quite hot, you may want to replace the thermostat (your new manual will show you how to do this as well) as they can sometimes get inaccurate after an extremely hot cycle (my mustang kept overheating on me after I let the water go low one time, of course even after topping the radiator off again. Replacing the thermostat fixed it). Good Luck!

Tony
