Have a 2008 Acadia. Drove 3 hours from home, some mountains, and stoped for lunch. Came out to find coolant under car. Drove up the street to auto shop( which was closed) and car began to overheat at light. Turn engine off light and bells started to ding so stoped the car. Allowed to cool overnight. There is no further leakage and there is still coolant in the resevoire. We are out of town and need to know how far we can drive this thing.

Check the water pump. it may be leaking out relief hole on bottom of water pump while running. it could have failed just before you stopped for lunch! good-day but if pump is ok while it runs. put a new thermostat in it.

2008 Mercury Mountaineer electrical issues

This is a devious problem which could lie anywhere. So many things not functioning would perhaps be a ground problem. Maybe take some extra care in cleaning the battery terminals, check if the ground wire is connected to the chassis. Do you have rodents in your area? Maybe they nibbled some wire somewhere?

When my car nissan xterra is warmed the engine shut off

I have a customer with a 2000 Nissan Xterra 3.3 liter V6 with 180k miles. He stated that while driving on the highway the vehicle is fine. Once he exits the highway and drove on surface streets the engine stumbles, sputters and shuts down when he stops. The fuel pump is located under the right side rear seat. I removed the inspection cover to view the electrical connections. No problem there. I drove the vehicle for approx 20 minutes and it hesitated a little but not enough for me to come to a good conclusion. I needed the engine to heat up some more so I drove to Panda Express for lunch. I got my lunch to go, return to the vehicle and started the engine to eat while the engine idled. After my lunch was over I drove back to my customer's house. On the way God bless me with what I was searching for...the engine started to sputter. To shorten this story I replaced the distributor with a brand new assembly from AutoZone($233.65). Once I removed the factory distributor I spun it by hand and that's when I could feel that bearings were rough & worn.
Problem solved and my customer is happy.

Transmission will not shift into high gear

That chocolate cottage cheese may have been transmission fluid mixed in with your engine coolant (transmission cooler in radiator ruptured), which means you could have been getting engine coolant in the transmission. What does the fluid on your transmission dipstick look like? If the transmission fluid is contaminated, it could cause a lot of problems in the transmission. If you suspect this, have a transmission shop check it out. Just changing the transmission fluid will not correct this, as there will be a lot of fluid that doesn't drain out - in the torque converter, valve body, and all the passages and clutches.

Transmission will not shift into high gear

sounds like the auto oil coolong pipes popped a leak in the radiator

do the auto service and fit the parts
if oil and coolant haven't mixed in the auto itself
over drive clutch set may need a new kit fitted

drive it a bit and see what happens

I drove my car to work this morning and then to my house about a mile for lunch after lunch my car wouldn't start and i hear one tick noise near the power distributor... my battery is fine and eve

Starter solenoid or just a starter bad, sometimes this comes out of nowhere but usually you can hear it start cranking slow shortly before failure.

2008 acadia coolant gets away slowley

Well someone has to figure out by looking at the car whether this is a slow leak to the outside or a much worse slow leak into the lubrication or combustion areas of the engine. Coolant is very bad for internal hard surfaces so get it done ASAP.
