Question about Chevrolet K2500

88 chevy k2500 drivetrain issues... had some problems in the snow last year was hard shifting into 4H finally got to go though not easily and made a loud pinging sound when did shift I jacked up the truch and the drivelines are turning though front wheels are not thinkin differential probs looking for diagram of diff and removal process poss fix solutions and other thing to check into

your transmission has possibly been rebuilt with stronger springs put in. No worries. have been running mine for along while without any problems. Better this than slipping, but it is a bit annoying.

SOURCE: Broken Chevy 88 Silverado shift indicator. Need Diagram.

The neddle is attached to the column via a thin metal wire and spring which then clips to the edge. Remove the trim above the column and look for the clip attached to the wire and a warn spot on the column and reattach it. :)

You might want to have the fuel pump checked. They make that whinning sound when they get older. My brother in-law's 98 has been whinning for a few years

I have a 1996 chevy tahoe. after using 4x4 high to get out of a bad situation with extensive use of high rpm's in 4H, it will not shift out of 4H. the switch on the dash is not even blinking or making

Get underneath and check the linkage bar that goes from the shifter inside the cabin to the tranny underneath. Sometimes these bars, especially on GMC vehicles can come off or become stuck, if it does become stuck then you have to take it to a dealer because local mechanics unless they've dealt with it will only make the situation worse. i used to tow cars and trucks and this is a common issue with GMC from the 90s til mid-to late 2000s

I have a 03 chevy silverado 3500 dualie diesel 4wd. I have the push button 4wd and when I shift from 4H to 2H it takes a long time to come out and when it does it comes out with a bad bang. I know that...

if you are driving in 4H on hard surfaces and just flip the switch to 2H still on the hard surfaces it will react exactly as you describe
when in 4H as there is no internal diff action in the transfer case , a condition known as torque wind up occurs and places heavy loads on the drive line components thereby locking the gear teeth and that will not allow the separation on selecting 2W drive
if at some point one wheel looses traction for a split section, that torque wind up is reduced and the pressure on the actuator slams the selector out of engagement
4H should only be used in slippery conditions , mud, dirt ,snow,ice, grass etc where the wheels loose traction and allow that wind up to dissipate
if you continue to drive on hard surfaces in 4 H then transmission failure will occur earlier than can be expected

Transfer Case - Mechanical Shift On The Fly (MSOF) Operation The mechanical shift on the fly (MSOF) system is a manual shift 4WD system that allows the operator to chose between two different 4x4 modes as well as 2-wheel drive. The operator can switch between 2WD and 4H mode at speeds up to 88 km/h (55 mph). To engage or disengage 4L range, the vehicle speed must be less than 5 km/h (3 mph), the brake pedal depressed, and the transmission must be in NEUTRAL.
Shifts between 2H and 4H can be made at a stop or any forward speed up to 88 km/h (55 mph). At temperatures below 0°C (32°F) shifts should not be performed above 72 km/h (45 mph).
The transfer case is equipped with an electromagnetic cluch which is located inside the case. This clutch is used to spin up the front driveline when shifting from 2WD to 4x4 mode at speed. When the manual shift lever is moved, this activates the 4WD indicator switch, 4WD electric clutch relay, and the electromagnetic clutch. When the transfer case front and rear output shafts are synchronized, the spring loaded lockup collar mechanically engages the mainshaft hub to the drive sprocket. Finally, the front axle collar is engaged and the electromagnetic clutch is deactivated.

2006 Chevy Trailblazer LS, dashboard lights, need a key of warning lights, one is a wrench with a car next to it and a squiggly line underneath, the other one looks like a car skidding in a triangle.

Change Engine Oil Light = wrench with a car next to it
StabiliTrak® Service Light = car skidding in a triangle.
This light will come on if a problem is detected in the StabiliTrak® system

Tha vacuum modulator will not keep the truck from shifting,it only helps with sift quallity.it sound like you have some internal problems and will need to take it to a transmission shop
