YOU HAVE 2 BEARINGS INNER AND OUTER BEARING IN HUB.YOU NEED TO REMOVE BRAKE CALIPER THEN REMOVE GREASE CAP.STRAIGHTEN THE BEND COTTER PIN THEN REMOVE COTTER PIN.THEN LOOSEN REMOVE ADJUSTING NUT AND WASHER FROM END OF THE SPINDLE.PULL THE HUB OUT SLIGHTLY THEN PUSH IT BACK INTO ORIGINAL POSITION. THIS WILL FORCE THE OUTER WHEEL BEARING OFF THE SPINDLE ENOUGH SO YOU CAN REMOVE IT.PULL THE HUB OFF THE SPINDLE.USE A SCREW DRIVER TO PRY THE GREASE SEAL OUT OF THE REAR OF THE. HUB AS THIS IS DONE NOTE HOW THE SEAL IS INSTALLED.THEN REMOVE THE INNER WHEEL BEARING FROM THE HUB.

How do you replace rod bearings 2002 montero sport 3.5

If they are in good condition, why replace them? Replace them with the same exact size you remove from them. You do not have to go 20 over or 30 over unless you have the engine or crankshaft turned at a shop where they remove a small amount of metal to make the surfaces nice. If that happens, you would need to compensate for that metal removal by installing an over sized bearing. But the shop would also be required to inform you on what size if that happened.

I use a prerun grease that is black. really doesn't matter as long as it is thick enough to stay until your ready to start the motor. Don't forget to prefill your new oil filter with new oil. This will decrease the time that oil fills the filter and save milliseconds that could cause damage to new parts. Also, go to the auto store and buy a bottle of zinc additive for the first breakin period of the engine bearings. Zinc is a very needed substance in the oil for new engines. It will help protect your engine during break in period. I use the lucas brand and pour it in with the new oil. I also use Castrol oil because it keeps engine parts clean and I have used it all my life, (my preference only) Stick with the 30wt oils because they seem to have the better additives needed, but use the zinc on first 500 miles. Take your time with what your doing, any mistake will mean disaster in a very short time. I know by experience it doesn't take more then 25mph to seize an engine. Clean your passages also. Anything stuck in a passage will crash a motor faster then you can shut it off. Watch you oil pressure and be sure it comes up quickly when first starting. All that hard work your doing, you better check yourself over and over for mistakes.

Probably can, if they appear the same, and have the same dimensions. Probably the same part, I don't know for sure.

2000 Montero Sport shutters/vibrates in 2 and 3 gears

Could be a wheel bearing and/or a rear differential pinion bearing, which usually get worse when under load(going up hill). I would definitely start there.

if it is anything like my 98 montero sport 3.0 all you need is a socket set, the tensioner should be close to the pulley near the alternator
