Hello: A rebuilt starter is 129.99 & 10.00 core charge which you get back when you return the old starter. a new starter is154.99 w/same core charge. To replace starter raise up front of car, the starter is on the bottom front of the engine. You need the following tools: 10mm 3/8 drive socket, 8mm socket 1/4 drive, 13mm 3/8 drive socket 15mm 3/8 drive socket, 6 inch and 12 inch 3/8 drive extension and ratchet and 3 inch 1/4 drive extension and ratchet. Disconnect black (negative) battery cable (use 8mm socket and ratchet) Raise car up remove any lower cover that restricts access to the starter, disconnect small purple wire from starter solenoid use 8 mm socket 3 inch extension and ratchet. Remove heavy red wire from starter solenoid with either 13 or 15 mm socket 3 inch or 6 inch 3/8 drive extension and ratchet on the bottom toward the transmission there will be a black plastic rock guard cover remove it 10 mm socket, extension ratchet then remove two bolts !5 mm bolt heads using the 6 or 12 inch extension and 3/8 extensions and ratchet when bolts are out starter will fall away from engine. Don't let it fall on you. When re-installing make sure the wire connections on the stater solenoid are tight but do not over tighten them or you will break the solenoid. Also remove the positive battery cable (while the black one is disconnected) make sure it is clean, No corrosion, clean with baking soda and water mixture then rinse off w/fresh water. When connecting battery make sure connections are tight. GOOD LUCK

My 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo kind of spits and sputters while driving. What could be the problem?

There are several potential issues that could be causing your 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo to spit and sputter while driving. Here are a few possibilities:
  1. Fuel delivery issues: If your engine is not receiving the correct amount of fuel or air, it can cause hesitation or rough idling. This could be due to a clogged fuel filter, a malfunctioning fuel pump, or a problem with the air intake system.
  2. Ignition system issues: A faulty spark plug, ignition coil, or other component of the ignition system can cause misfires, which can make the engine hesitate or sputter.
  3. Emissions system issues: Your vehicle's emissions system is designed to reduce harmful pollutants in the exhaust. A malfunctioning component of this system, such as the oxygen sensor, can cause the engine to run poorly.
  4. Electrical issues: A damaged or worn electrical component, such as a sensor or relay, can cause the engine to run rough or stall.
  5. Transmission issues: If your vehicle is experiencing transmission problems, such as slipping or shifting issues, it can cause the engine to hesitate or sputter.
To determine the exact cause of the problem, it's best to have your vehicle diagnosed by a certified mechanic. They can perform a diagnostic scan to check for any error codes or issues with the engine, transmission, or emissions system.

97 chevy monte carlo trunk pops open and locks lock and unlock on their own while car is runnning and off

I have a 97 Monte Carlo that has locked me out a number of times. I have never experienced the trunk doing it's own thing. What I have done is simply remove the fuse to the power door locks. I drive it to work and am usually the only rider so no big hassle for passengers.

97 chevy monte carlo\r\nwhere is the fuel pump fuse

Under the hood you will find the fuse. There is also a reset button sometimes in the trunk under right panel or sometimes right out in the open. There is also a relay switch that goes bad on these too. Under the hood i think near the left side toward the fire wall there are three one for the horn one for the fuel and one for ac
