P0171 fuel lean bank 1, P0 174 Fuel lean bank 2 More likely the MAF you can correct this by cleaning the MAF but you need to use brake cleaner and you ahve to remove it from its housing (it has anti tampering screws) a vacuum leak can also cause both banks to go lean and even low fuel pressure wheter it is a filter or pumpi got code 171 and - cansmo_53.gif

Testimonial: "thanks for the help that sound litlle easy to do it and other thing is i have to remove just the sensor or the full piece where the sensor is placed"

The area that reqiuires the true cleaning is at the top of the airflow housing you are supposed to take the taper screw outs there you will see the IAT there is no other way to get to it also check false air leak like broke vacuum hoses especially at the PCV

Mercury sable 2001 24 valve codes t0300 + t0301 what do they mean + how do i fix problem

If the codes are P0300 and P0301, the 300 code is for a random cylinder miss and 301 is for a miss on cylinder one.
Could be ignition or fuel related.

I have a 2001 mercury sable with a 3.0 dohc engine. When you start the engine it misses and runs rough till it warms up, it then runs fine

Run the codes, change spark plugs, clean the MAF sensor and always make sure to replace a fuel filter every 30K miles. don-ohio

Check engine light with codes P0171 & P0174, hesitation at accelleration 2001 mercury sable.

P0171 & P0174 indicate Lean burning on banks 1 and 2. The most common cause is a dirty or defective MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. Other causes are bad fuel filters or a broken vacuum line.

1998 mercury sable with the check engine light on with code p0174

A code P0174 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters can cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
  • There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor. I hope this helps you

I have a 2001 Mercury Sable 24 VOHC. Got P0303

It is likely one of you coils. You can buy one and keep moving across all the cylinders until you find the bad one or wait for it to set a code to tell you which one.
