I am the owner of a 2000 Jaguar S-Type 4.0 and had a Fail Safe Mode Warning and check engine light that came on, had O'Reilly's scan it and the code showed P1576, Accelerator Pedal Sensor issue. Before changing the pedal sensor you may want to try this first, if you have this issue. This is a cheaper and easier way to go before changing out the pedal sensor although the sensor is not expensive unless you decide to have a mechanic change it for you. After some research, we decided to take a can of electronic cleaner (bought $3 can of CRC, Electronic Cleaner) and cleaned out the connections of the throttle positioning sensor (located under the hood) and the accelerator pedal sensor (located at the accelerator pedal inside the car). Before starting the car I pumped the pedal a couple of times. Don't know if that was necessary but I did that anyway. After doing this the Fail Safe Mode warning never came back on, then I had the check engine light reset. So far, this seems to have done the trick. If I run into another problem with this I will then consider changing the pedal sensor then and update this status.

Change the pedal sensor...thrttle is fine and will function properly as soon as its changed..make sure once you change it you turn the key to position two for 5 seconds then turn it back to position one ,then wait ten more seconds and turn the key to postion two for 5 seconds again to allow the ecu to calibrate. And make sure you unplug the neg terminal to do the install...once reconnected follow the above procedure...the crank the car.

As I can solve the problem with this code p1589 en un jaguar s type 2001

Could be a wire, a bad connector, bad voltage supply, or a bad data capture. Could need a calibration done or a new engine computer. If you have changed all the easy parts, take it to an authorized mechanic or learn to live with a check engine light. 25315267-wng3opgl1pug32fsc4t4fc4i-3-0.jpg

2001 Jaguar fault code P1589 Throtle Body angel. Is there a way I can fix without a costley visit to the JAG shop

the throttle body angle is the throttle butterfly opening angle, the signal is sent to the ecm from a potentiometer on the throttle body and is compared to the throttle pedal sensor if both signals are not in unison then you get that fault code you dont say what model you have! if its got a cable operated throttle pedal the pedal sensor is also on the throttle body. so you should clean the butterfly and housing using a solvent and check the wiring and connectors but at that year 99 to 2001 they had problems with throttle bodies lots had to be replaced. so recon throttle body may be best option

2000 s-type obd 2 code p1576

That code represents a malfunction in the idle control or with sensing info to adjust vehicle's speed. This is usually caused by a faulty potentiometer which is located at your gas pedal. Instead of having a throttle cable going from the pedal to engine your vehicle has an electronic system which interprets pressure applied to the pedal as voltage and sends that info to the computer and your vehicle accelerates. If that is bad or you have a fault in the wiring or a loose connection between those two points it will trigger that fault code as well. That part like most jag **** is a dealer only item. I'm a jag owner too if it's not obvious. Hope that gets you headed in the right direction now and good luck

Missfire on number 3 coil on 2001 S type Jaguar 3.0 V6 Sport

Check the igniter module.
I assume you have a ecu code telling you #3 coil is missfiring ?
If so also check the crankshaft angle sensor .
If it is not an error code do a compression test and check the injector.
Hope this helps

Failsafe mode

Per Jaguar's codes:

P1576 Pedal Position Not Available

I'm assuming your car is a drive-by-wire setup (instead of having a throttle cable, it'd have a potentiometer at the pedal, and the more the pedal is pressed, the greater the voltage output at the pedal, which is translated to a throttle opening percentage underhood by the computer). It sounds as if you have a problem with the pedal, or with the computer's ability to read the throttle angle you're pushing for. Does the car currently drive OK? Or are you having driveability issues? Post up a little more info and we can take it from there.
