Beeping Noise & Fuel guage not reading accurately

I just brought back from Chicago -Omaha-Chicago trip. All worked well. Just fueled up and noticed gas guage only reading 1/2 to 60% full. 220 miles to empty on digital readout. (Typically reads over 400miles). Also getting a beeping noise coming from Drivers side of engine. I pulled & replaced the pos. lead off battery & guage went to full, however beeping noise (similar to the submarine sonar beep you hear on an old war movie) continues.

Could it be your back up sensor going off that is making the sonar sound?

2004 pt cruiser gas guage showing incorrect reading

There is a trick to reset all of the gauges in your PT Cruiser. There are three simple steps to reset them.
Step 1. Hold down the "Trip" button
Step 2. While holding onto the Trip button, turn the key and start the car. (This should make all the gauges and numbers reset and run a test)
Step 3. Release the trip button and the fuel gauge should work properly.
If not, there might be a problem with your fuel pump.

My gas light is on, took off gas cap & put back on but light still on. Any suggestins?

I suggest you read the vehicle owner's handbook to be certain what the exact function of the light is. You will need to know that in order to determine whether the light is warning you or is broken.

The fuel light usually warns the fuel level in the tank is low...

Fuel gage showing half a tank but trip computer only registering 60 miles left

Its very simple. If the gauge is showing half full then fill the tank and see how much fuel it takes. If the amount you add is approximately 50 percent of the fuel tank capacity then you know the fuel gauge is accurate . In that case the computer is giving an inaccurate reading and should be ignored. All you need is an accurate fuel gauge - it does not matter a row of beans what the computer says if the fuel gauge is reading correctly.

Just had our 2001 ford expedition's fuel pump replaced and the fuel gauge has since then not been reading accurately. What could cause this? I've taken my car back three times and was told that the fuel...

If the guage is reading but not accurately it may be the incorrect fuel pump for the vehicle or the float is may not be in the retaining clip all the way. Also possible that the float got bent during installation. Can you describe what the guage is doing such as reading full when its 1/2 full or jumping around on you?

99 cavalier - the fuel gauge doesnt read accurately and it jumps

Possibly a bad ground wire at the sender on the tank,

Check for that first before tearing into the dash to replace the guage.

On a 95 chevy truck. the fuel guage goes to E with any motion like turns stops . Had sending unit in tank replaced . No change in problem...

the fuel guage will only be accurate on level ground,, when you stop or go around the corner the fuel sloshes around in to tank causing the level at the float to change,, thus the guage reads different

95 ford taurus stalls in very hot temps. every summer. Fuel pump?

When this happens have you noticed what temp guage said? if it was hot then you might try a lower temperature thermostat and flush coolant system. If it doesn't actualy get hot coolant wise then a vapor lock in fuel system would be unlikely to my knowledge, car has fuel pump in gas tank and is fuel injected. If you only take short trips in car cooling system,<thermostat, water pump, coolant level and radiator> could be at fault and only when running for longer periods of time might cause overheating and not noticed on regular days on short trips.
