check under the hood for diagram sticker that shows the routing of the belt. There is a idle pulley on a tension spring that keeps the belt taught. You must take pressure off the belt with long handled socket rachet or bar that fits in the tension bracket "fixed" bolt You push down to release the spring tension and pull the belt off ... To install you do the opposite.. be sure you have the belt properly seated on each pulley and route it according to the diagram . It helps to draw a picture of the routing before you start to insure proper installation.

Just remove the belt tensioner and the belt will just come off.
You must remember how it is routed around the engine...draw a diagram before you remove it.

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing that the belt is on correctly except for the power steering.It's probably running backwards. Check the routing carefully. Hope this helps.
I would first double check and make sure that you really do have the right size belt with the right teeth on the belt as well. Another thing that you should look into is maybe the belt tensioner has gone south on you.

accessory drive belt for 2.0L engines has no provision for manual belt
adjustment, since these engines use an automatic belt tensioner. Drive
belt slack is taken up by the automatic tensioner. Movement of
the automatic tensioner assembly during engine operation is not a sign
of a malfunctioning tensioner. This movement is the tensioner
self-adjusting and is required to maintain constant belt tension. The belt tensioner has a belt length indicator. If the indicator marks are not between the MIN and MAX marks, the belt must be replaced.
