Jul 30, 2012 - The "gate" light stays on on my dash and the over head lights stay on ... you roll the interior dimmer all the way down) in my 2008 Dodge Caravan. ... Clicking noise in 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan? ... Are the 2010s any better?
The first thing that comes to mind is that the dash lights scroll dimmer is scrolled all the way in one direction which manually shuts off all the interior lights, even if a door is opened. At night turn on the parking lamps and then scroll the dash lights dimmer until the dash, radio face, overhead console, etc is brighter. Turn off the headlamp switch. Shut off the engine and exit the vehicle. Interior lights on? Hope this helps.
Is there perhaps a problem with the dome light switch on the lift gate? Close all the doors, open only the lift gate and find the switch on the lift gate frame (usually a rubber covered "bump") and press it in. You might have a loose wire shorting against the bodywork or the door is not depressing the switch properly.
Sensor that turns the light of when you shut the door is either disconnected or bad. it should look like a plunger switch.check to see if it turns the light on and off when you push it in.
