2002 ford mustang power windows

I have a 2002 mustang and my drivers side window stopped working. when I hit the switch the gem box clicks. I tested the switch and it is good . I also checked the fuse and circuit breaker . The passengers side works ....could it be my gem box ?

Not sure what a gem box is but we had the same problem on our 94. It was the plastic drive gear in the lift motor. Auto Zone sold the entire assembly for about $50. Yours might be rebuildable ie. plastic gear replacement. Considering where it is located R&R was relativly easy. Rmember to suuprt the window so as not to change position when you rmove the motor assy. Good Luck

"automatic" window on my 2005 mustang does not

So when it doesn't seal that means the tracks the window have been falling out typically. The door panel needs to come off to inspect the tracks. And if your driver side power window doesn't work, that typically means a seperate problem located in the switch itself. It could also be the wires, so you can run a seperate wire to test the switch by running it directly to the window motor, and pressing the switch down. This can easily be done while the door panel is off so you can hit two problems at the same time.

Why doesn't my auto window button work on my ford 01 f150. The window rolls down fine but the auto function doesn't work. It started doing that after I changed a bad battery and put in a new one.

. May need to reprogram module due to disconnect.
CAUTION: Prior to removal of the GEM, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to a diagnostic tool. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed. For additional information, refer to Section 418-01.

----------------
The following is list of GEM/CTM-controlled functions:
  • wipers/washers (front/rear)
  • warning chimes
  • battery saver
  • illuminated entry and courtesy lamps
  • accessory delay
  • driver power window (GEM only)
The GEM constantly monitors its subsystems for concerns. If a concern is found in one of the subsystems, the GEM will record the concern in the form of a diagnostic trouble code (DTC). The ignition switch position is very important to the GEM function. Often times, erratic or unexpected GEM function can be traced to concerns with ignition switch inputs.

Principles of Operation:
The generic electronic module (GEM) controls the opening of the driver window by activating the one-touch down window relay.
The GEM controls manual down and auto down window movement with the down window relay. The relay is activated by applying ground directly to one side of the down window relay coil, and deactivated by removing the ground signal. The delayed accessory relay provides power for the operation of the power windows and the roof opening panel (if equipped). The delayed accessory feature is active when the ignition switch is in the RUN or the ACC position, or when the ignition switch is changed from RUN or ACC to the OFF/LOCK position and the driver and passenger doors are closed.
Down window motion operates in two modes, manual mode and auto mode. When the GEM detects the first down position, first detent on the switch, it enters manual mode. In manual mode, the window will move downward only while the switch is depressed. Similarly, when the GEM detects the second down position, second detent on the switch, it enters auto mode. In auto mode, the window will open completely with just a momentary press of the switch.
the GEM will activate the one-touch down window relay until one of the following conditions is met:
  • The driver window control switch is pushed to the UP position.
  • The driver window control switch is released (OFF position) and then moved to the down position (first detent) or the one-touch down position (second detent).
  • Seven seconds have elapsed since the one-touch down feature was initiated.
  • A window regulator motor stall condition is detected on the one-touch down sense line inputs.
The GEM will deactivate the delayed accessory feature when:
  • the driver/passenger door is ajar and the ignition switch is in the OFF/LOCK or KEY-OUT position.
  • 10 minutes have elapsed since the ignition switch was changed from ACC or RUN to the OFF/LOCK position.
Inspection and Verification
  1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system.
  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

  1. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  1. If the scan tool does not power up:
    • check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch is in RUN position.
    • If the scan tool still does not power up, refer to the scan tool manual.
  1. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test. If the scan tool responds with:
    • CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Section 418-00.
    • SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs, and carry out the self-test diagnostics for the GEM.
  1. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the GEM Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.
  1. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.

Driver side window on 2004 mustang stopped working

the window switches in the door can offten go bad just from sticky fingers. some times the are known to just stop working all of a sudden. it is also posible that the motor has gone bad, or more likely a bad conection at the motor or switch. the door switches on the mustangs are not the most sturdy switches. the tend to break loose and move around. u can test the motor by simply runing 12volts the the terminals on it. depending on witch terminal has power and witch has ground determins if the windo goes up or down. also check with volt meter or test light that there is power to the switch, just turn the key on and ground the test light and plug in the terminal that goes to that switch.

Is the fuse panel under the hood the only place fuses are located? and i dont have manual to see which fuse is for my driver side window... its not working

you have fuses inside the car on the dash about where left knee is.
This is for 2003, don't have 2004. should be similar.

Principles of Operation
Power Window Control
NOTE: Battery power and ground must be removed before disconnecting the GEM connectors to avoid setting false DTCs.
The driver power window one-touch down operation is controlled by the generic electronic module (GEM). This feature functions only when the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACCY positions. The GEM determines ignition switch position by monitoring the key-in ignition, RUN/ACCY and RUN/START circuits. The one-touch down operation is requested of the GEM by momentarily pressing the driver window regulator control switch DOWN for 62 ms to 320 ms. The GEM uses the initial voltage input from the down switch to begin the one-touch down operation. If the voltage input was less than 320 ms, the GEM will maintain the voltage supply to the motor down circuit. The GEM will maintain the operation until:
  • seven seconds expires.
  • motor stall is detected by monitoring the current draw.
  • a voltage input is received by the GEM on either the up or down switch circuits.
The ground for one-touch down operation does not pass through the GEM. The ground is supplied through the driver window regulator control switch as with normal operation. If the GEM continues to see voltage on the down circuit for more than 320 ms after initial activation the GEM will not effect operation. The down circuit through the GEM is a direct connection to the motor in its normal state. This allows the driver window regulator control switch to control the motor for normal operation.
The passenger window motors are hardwired directly to the window regulator control switches.

All windows will not work on my 2005 ford taurus

2002 taurus. don't have 2005. Sorry.

Could be your GEM module. Call your dealer and ask if your 2005 has GEM module. It's expensive so be sure it is problem first.

Dealer can test with NGS tool.

CAUTION: Once the new module is installed, it is necessary to download the module configuration information from the diagnostic tool equipment into the new module. For additional information, refer to Section 418-01 .

Interior lights

What they are speaking of is the GEM module however this will not correct the concerns you have.
The GEM controls the following functions:
  • warning chimes and warning lamps
  • one-touch down window
  • windshield washers and wipers
  • battery saver
  • illuminated entry with keyless remote entry
  • interior lighting
Turn signals and hazzard lamps do not go thru the GEM module at all and the reverse lamps all the gem does there is look for reverse so it knows when to activate the auto lock doors when vehicle is in motion.
I suspect you have 2 or more problems here that you may want to get checked by an experienced Ford tech. Also the GEM has to be programed when replaced. It is not plug and play.
