No. It's not so much the key which is the issue as the steering column lock can be forced or completely removed using a drill, but the immobiliser chip which is the problem (sometimes in the key fob on some models from that period). No chip = no start unless you fit a complete hacked replacement engine management computer.

Theft lock engaged because multiple attempts to start without key in car. How do I reset?

Try locking it with the fob, then unlock it with fob. If the antitheft is engaged, the light will stay on or flash.

How to reset engine disability in 1996 Range Rover?

Lock doors with the key. Take out key . Insert key open and close lock 5 times then on the fifth turn open door this will reset the disable code to normal . I had this code on my P38 Range Rover and the Rover Tech assisted me with this simple way to reset the engine disable fault code . Good Luck .

Sounds like the throttle body is gummed up, or the idle air control valve is not working.

I lost the key for my range rover hse 1996 model the look smith cut me a new key but the car is starting

So the car does not start after getting a new key cut correct? If you have the title to the vehicle, take it to your local Land Rover dealer and they can cut you a new key. Does the car have keyless entry/anti theft from the factory? If so they key will need programmed by the dealer.

1996 4.0 Range Rover won't unlock

This car is in super lock mode... when you press remote 2times to lock or when you lock with remote and try to unlock using key manually.

there is a 4 digit number to open the door, its like opening a safe, starting from the left(key in car door) it goes L/R/L/R. so if number code is 1234..... left 1, right 2, left 3, right 4.

or if this too troublesome you can ask landrover dealer to remove the KEYCODE.

happy trying.....
