The place to start would be to scan your vehicle's computer network fo fault codes. Until this is done, there is nobody in the world that can do anything more than "GUESS" what could be causing your problems.

Actually, you need a new vacuum solenoid. It costs $200 at a dealership. I could not find one online. Check your lines when replacing it. It is easy to replace. Once you get the part, go underneath and you will have to remove a smaller sized protection plate to access it. Just follow where all the vacuum lines go to.

If the RED 'check" light is flashingin the TOD than it is your speed sensor. You have one forward and on the rear by the universals. As for the rest I am not sure except to say the transmission is shifted electrically and the sensor may be shorting out.

2004 bmw x5 is stuck in 4 wheel drive

Hello. It seems your B.M.W.'s PCM (Powertrain Control Module), inadvertently, 'engaged' 4WD on it's own; without your knowledge. Disconnect your Beemer's battery and wait 10-15 minutes then reconnect it. Start engine and drive your Beemer somewhere. If it stays in 4WD, then, another 'reboot' has to be done. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

Had new front brake pads and rotors installed last week. Get grinding noise in reverse when first starting out then it goes away. ABS light and 4 wheel drive light come on and flash. Brakes work fine, what...

First have the brakes checked, the abs and 4wd lights need to be checked, this is done with a scan tool, the computer stores codes telling you what part of what system has failed this will help in finding the problem, the noise my be a bad wheel bearing and has gotten bad to the point it has damaged the abs sensor and has made the lights come on , this is a guess you will need to have the computer scanned to get the codes. hope this helps, good luck.

Brake, ABS,STC,CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON.

I had the same problem which was diagnosed incorrectly 3 times
Could be one of 2 things you may want to check
Have a tech read your codes
Have the ABS Control Module checked by a technician. If that is ok then make sure they look at the altenator
In my case, I was getting voltage spikes that were shorting out system controls -the ABS Control Module and the battery, etc. Once they put in a new altenator, the problem was fixed.
