I just put a timing belt on my Izuzu Rodeo and it wont start( seems to try but has no power. If i was one notch off on my belt do I have to realign the belt or is there an adjustment like we use to do with the distributor cap?

There is no adjustment. The belt is probably off by more than one tooth as it would likely start if it was just a tooth. Either way, the belt must be on perfectly for the engine to run well. Sometimes it is difficult to align the marks at the outside of the sprocket with the mark at the back cover. If you lay a tooth pick across the cam sprocket so that it follows the tooth under the belt to the back cover, it makes it easier.

I have a 1998 izuzu rodeo--does it have a timing chain or belt

Belt. In excess of 100,000 mles timing belts can start to stretch. Chains can too, but its more common with belts.

Have a izuzu rodeo 2000 i cant start de ingine i

If you only hear a click sound when attempting to start your vehicle it means that the starter solenoid is defective or the battery connections are loose. Some times the battery connections can be loose enough that the starter will not operate but the lights will.

I have a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo, and cannot seem to figure out how to lay down the back seats. Can anyone please tell me how to do this? Thanks, Jim Cummins: [email protected].

There should be two seat belt clip notches in the seat where the seat belt clips comes out the seat. In those two notches there is also a strap in each notch that doesn't look like it really belongs there. Pull those two straps at the same time and the seat pops up and folds down. The back rest part of the seat will then fold down. Remove the head rest section of the back rest and it will fold all the way down.

2002 Izusu Rodeo timing problems

Check with your local Izuzu dealer, there is a procedure to set the cams in proper relationship with each other. This involves turning the cams up to 8 rotations to have them "jump" into the proper spot. I have had the same problem and found a bulletin that shows the correct way to time the engine.
