I have a 1995 Pontiac Grand AM with ABS breaking system. I need to replace the master cylinder. I am concerned about the 3 and 6 pin...and where or which ones they are. I have no diagram. Is it possible to get a diagram of this repair?

1-It's usually low brake fluid at the master cylinder (brake pad is worn and the brake fluid is low and then the warning light stay on.)
2-hand brake light switch
3- Depend on witch light (brake light or ABS light)
4-If it's the ABS light then you need to retrieve the faulty code.
Make sure you bleed from rear furtherist from master cylinder and make sure when your helper is in drivers seat to pump brake pedal 4x then hold, at that holding point you open bleed screw then close once brake pedal is on the ground. Repeat 5x then move to the opp side and do the same. Then to the front furtherist from master cylinder and do the same. Making sure the brake fluid is always topped up also. Also check all your conecters in the lines are not leaking
Hi, welcome to FixYa.com my name is Shawn and I will be answering your
question.
You need to start checking the fluid level in the master cylinder. If the master cylinder is low it can cause this concern. If the fluid in the master cylinder is at the correct level then you need to self test the ABS system for any fault codes. Typically on these vehicles it is a broken tone ring on an axle shaft or a faulty ABS modual.
I hope my assistance helped you and resolved your
concern, if you need further assistance please ask.
Visiually check the rear breaks and if it is not leaking you the need master cylinder replace. When replacing a master cylinder don't forget to bleed for trap air also.
The abs control module is located under the hood, on the drivers side, below the master cylinder on the fenderwell. Replacing it can be a hassle, as first you have to break free all the steel brake lines going to it, and it's a bit of a pain to bleed. It has to be done a certain way, or it won't operate normally.
The brake booster/ naster cylinder is located on the firewall on the drivers side of the vehicle. The master cylinder has a resivour (sp) which has a cap and holds brake fluid. The brake booster is right behind that, the master cylinder is bolted right to the booster. The booster looks like a big circle about 10 to 12 inches round and usually 4 to 6 inches thick. It will have a vaccum hose coming off the booster and going to the intake manifold. The master cylinder with have hard lines coming off it which are brake lines. Hope this helps.
The red brake light is the key here. That usually indicateds a hydraulic problem. Check you fluid level in master cylinder and see if it is low. Also the level indicator sensor there in the master cylinder maybe sticking or corrioded. If ABS sees the red brake light it will shut off and turn on the ABS light, also traction control would be disabled as well.
Disconnect the battery negative with the ignition key on and the engine not ON, only instruments on dash and radio on, connect it back on after two or four minutes, do not panic if You see sparks coming when you connect Battery back is normal, *** it well turn key OFF and start the car back an see, if problem remains, with key on press accelerator pedal 10 times fast and check if problem remains, contact dealer
The clutch control system in your car is hydraulic, and utilizes a clutch master cylinder, similar to the brake master cylinder, and a clutch slave cylinder mounted on the exterior of the bellhousing. If the fluid has leaked out, both the master and slave cylinders need to be replaced with new. They should be replaced as a set,as one is just as old as the other.Adding fluid may build the pedal back up,but only temporarily. The clutch master cylinder and reservoir is bolted to the firewall, driver side, and should have a round black cap.The system uses regular DOT 2 or 3 brake fluid for the hydraulics
Never Never Do this! Just buy a brand new one there is too much at risk sorry never play with brakes just for money. No rebuilt either only bran new will do.
