Try turning the key on to the run position and leaving it there for about 90 seconds before starting the car. That was how we reset the brake wear indicator on the e36 model so it may work the same on the e46.

Abs light stays on and abs system does the same

Try adding brake fluid to the reservoir that should put the light to rest if not when have you had the brakes serviced last, if you start to hear a metal rubbing noise waste no time to get the brakes serviced chances are you need pads or shoes.. Every 25,000 to 30,000 miles should have them inspected other wise you risk rotor or drum damage if the pads or shoes wear down too far.. hope this helps..

ABS light on, flashing 4wd 2005 Mazda Tribute

Even though your anit-lock brake system light comes on, dosen't mean your brakes will not work. All the ABS does, when applying the breaks, it compensates breaking power like pulsating your pads off and on the rotor in which without ABS your doing the same thing manually by pressing n releasing the brake pedal. And usually half the time it's a sensor that goes out and can be checked at your local autozone or auto parts store where they can plug into your car and will display a code that pertains to your ABS problem. Hope this helps.

I have brake lights and head lights only on my 1997 ford e350

It s likely you have a short in the muilty function switch . If even one of the functions is shorting it could cause this . Unfortuntaly its not a serviceable part and on fords the emegerancy flashers short out some times even if you hardly use them . But the good news is if you look around you can get the part new for 50 bucks or so at a good parts store . But stay away from the dealers it will cost you . And you can always try a junk yard . Do some electrical testing first simple tests to see what has power and what dosen't it still may just be a bad connection Well good luck with it

I have two issues with my Ford Escape. First, the airbag light will blink for a while, then just stays on. The sequence is 4,6,4,6,4,6,4,6,4,6, then stays on. Second, when I go to stop at a stop light/sign...

You need to have the Airbag System serviced because you have a bad sensor or fault with the Airbag. You need to service the brakes most likely you will end up replacing both front rotors as well as the Front pads. The passenger side caliper tends to dig into the back side of the rotor in the escape for some reason and since you always want to replace these in pairs so they have even pressure you will need to replace both.

My hand break light stays on while driving. Is this a warning light or is there just faulty lighting?? Thanks

If you have done about 30+k Miles , you may need brake pads.Examine for leaks, Check brake fluid resevoir (yellow cap usually) for fluid level. Do not top up if no leaks are present. It may just be the early brake pad wear indicator telling you it's time to replace the pads. Removal of the front wheels and inspect the brake pad condition for wear. Good luck If pads are worn, topping up fluid will put out the light BUT not solve the wear problem so inspect first.

Bmw 1 serise require information on how to rest

turn on the ignition (not starting) and then press the littlie button in front of the odometer display for 10 seconds until you see the service indicator menu. use the stalk on the left and the up and down control to scroll thru to the front and rear brake pad picture and then press the end button on the stalk for 3 seconds until reset comes up, then it will show a little click spinning around, then release and press for another 3 seconds. This will extinguish the brake service light. This is the same for all service lights, but remember to turn off the ignition on and off for each reset Ie: for brake, for oil, for pollen etc. If not it might not recognize the reset. The pads on the 116i or should I say the indicator is crapo, in a extra crapo sense as it has at least 10k miles on the pad but the wear indicator shows it as need replacing, The handbrake light on symbol will be amber then red and stay on all the time until the sensor and pads are changed. Pads and sensor must be replaced together as sensor has resistance built into it it will be around 500ohms ( I think) when it has just touched and less with more wear, the new sensor is probably 1k ohms from each wire ie from one wire to the other = 1k ohms.In short the pad wear indicator is a rip off, there is a lot of life left in the pad when the sensor goes off. I estimate just above 1/3 left but more like just below 1/2.... BMW STICKING TO YOU AGAIN.

2004 Mini CooperS- brake service light stays on

Did they replace the brake pad wear sensor? If so, try leaving the key in the on postion for 30-45 seconds (dont start the car) This is how we reset the lights on BMW's and the Mini's use a similar system for service lights
