I need to change my serpentine belt on my 97 olds aurora. I need to find a diagram so i can replace it.

The engine accessory belt (serpentine belt) drives the power steering pump (this is the larger pulley on top of the engine in front of the passenger side), and the belt goes down forward to the alternator. It is difficult to see unless you remove the housing on top of the grill. But the alternator is located down almost under the engine on the passenger side just behind the radiator... Very hard to get to it...

Use a 3/8" breaker bar to move the belt tensioner. While holding pressure on the tensioner, remove the serpentine belt from any of the pulleys. Gently release pressure from the tensioner. Remove the old belt and replace with the new one. Reapply pressure to the tensioner and pop the belt over the last pulley.

I would suspect a bad 'tensioner' pulley. When you get the new belt on, try to pull up on the uppermost part of the belt by hand - if it moves you should replace the tensioner (as this is what 'holds' your belt on). I can't seem to find a routing diagram so if it's not on a sticker under the hood or in your owner's manual try the local GM dealer...they have to have one. Good luck!.

More than likely it's the A/C compressor clutch is going bad. Cut the old serpentine belt off and install a shorter belt to bypass the A/C compressor for now.

Look on page 6-70 of your owners manual. It is listed under Engine Accessories Belt

first i would like to say is There should be a diagram of the belt's routing somewhere under the hood if not how ever if you can find a chilton manual for your car and the yr they have that in there i have they do but as for finding a diagarm on line sorry but i could not find any
