Hi,
The answer to that is NO!
There are two fan motors on that area. One is for the radiator cooling system and the second is for the condenser( Airconditioning system ).
The radiator fan starts/run when the engine temperature reaches a certain temperature( electric thermo switch on the radiator ), while the A/C fan starts whenever you switch on the a/c.
Hope that clears up everything.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

FAN

The computer gets a signal from the engine temp sensor that the fan is needed, and grounds the fan relay to provide power to the fan.

Overheating issues for a 2001 grand jeep cherokke

If it was overheating at freeway speed then it is a clogged radiator. Another cause of overheating is a timing that is retarded. These can be caused by worn timing components etc, although a possiblity it is highly unlikely on your car.

2001 jeep grand cherokee laredo overheats when vehicle sits idling. Cools down when i take off and drive down the road...??? Please help. thanks

Many cars have a thermoswitch threaded into the radiator that activates the fans when engine exceedes normal optimum opperating temp. This sensor may have failed , or one of the 2 wires that go to it may have come unpluged or broken

2001 Jeep Cherokee Laredo- electrical fan

Have you tested the fan, use a set of clip leads and supply 12 volts of battery power to the fan to see if it runs, another test is to disconnect the engine coolant temp fan switch, this sends the system into default and the fan will run.
