I have a 2006 GMC Envoy the gas needle was located just above the red mark to indicate it is empty but the fuel light was not on. I filled my tank, when I started the engine the needle went below the red empty line and the fuel light is on and will not go off. I have turned the car off and on multiple times to see if the needle would move and the fuel light would go off. Didn't work. Can you please advise me on what to do?

Either you have a bad fuel level sending unit or the stepper motor that drives the fuel gauge is bad. A high end scan tool will be required to determine if it is the sending unit.

2006 GMC Envoy XL gas gauge reads empty after filling continues reads empty and the light is on then the check engine light came on what can be the problem how ca i fixe it to save mesome $$$

It is most likely your fuel level sending unit has gone bad. It sits inside your fuel tank to tell the fuel guage how much gas you have in the tank.

The sending unit for the gas gauge is in the fuel tank and part of the fuel pump module, it is not sold seperately. Price is around $350.00, 2 hours labor to install the part.

Gas gauge problems

Common problem on the 03-06 Envoy instrument clusters for the fuel gauge to go out. It's usually caused by one of two main problems, either the stepper motor on the cluster's circuit board is going out or the sending unit on the fuel pump is going out. Check out this blog post about the problem - Envoy fuel gauge problems

2006 GMC Envoy XL gas gauge reads empty after filling, then slowly moves up after driving but will continue to lose pressure until it reads empty and the light is on, then the check engine light came...

Sending unit. Its all one unit including fuel pump, float, ect. The check engine light is because of the high or low resistance in the unit. Let me know if you have already fixed.. You have to drop the tank to get to it also.
