1994 mirage dies while driving - 1994 Mitsubishi Mirage

had that problem on my camaro. turned out to be a crank sensor on mine. also theres a small actuating valve on the intake i dont remember the name of it now but that could cause the same thing to happen if it gets carbon built up in it.and it is a cheaper fix than my crank sensor ..id check that first

chek plug cables first of all

check all your grounds and wiring too and from alternator and battery

If the car dies like you flipped a killswitch and wont even try to crank the motor I would definitely lean toward the ignition switch in the steering column is fried. Once it shorts out the car dies and wont crank. 

Youll have to take it to someone whon has an OBD, not OBD2 hook up.

you should get your timing checked out!!!!

check if the fuel pump is working, if you have someone near the tank and someone else crank motor you should be able to hear a bzzzzzz rom the tank from the pump. if no noise is heard then hit or thump the tank, this can make a fuel pump start to work again, if it starts, then the pump is almost dead

If you have spark, try changing the fuel filter. If you don't have spark, get back to me.

By memory I think in 2000 models MMC has changed the engine from E-W direction. Concerning your reverse gear can you tell whenit stopped working? Is it only the lever that is not going to the far right. Is 5th gear getting in easily? How is the trvel of the gear lever in the neutral channel?

with the battery fully charged try scraping the positive over the terminal on the battery and see if it sparks like a draw is sucking out amps if theres no draw on the battery it wont spark at all (good) if it sparks (bad) you have something grounded and killing your battery.. gl
