An aluminum mounting bracket holds the crankshaft sensor firmly on the engine, and it is partially hidden by the crankshaft pulley. It has a four-wire harness connector, which provide the signal to the ignition control module.

Insert the square tip of a 1/2-inch socket wrench into the square hole in the center of the serpentine belt's adjustment pulley. The adjustment pulley is the smallest pulley the belt wraps around.

    • 2

Pull the adjustment pulley toward the engine with the socket wrench to release the tension on the serpentine belt, then pull the belt off the air conditioningicon1.png compressor's pulley.

    • 3

Remove the bolts which secure the air conditioning compressor to its mounting brackets with an open-end wrench, then position the compressor to the side of the engine compartment. Do not disturb the hoses that attach to the compressor.

    • 4

Pull the electrical connection off the crankshaft sensor.

    • 5

Remove the two bolts that secure the crankshaft sensor against the engine with an open-end wrench, then slide the sensor out of the engine.

IM a chevy Malibu 2003 My crankShaft Censor Keeps Burning out, 3times I have been to doctor (mechanic) they replace my sensor, Im good for a week then I burn out my crankshaft censor again and again what's...

One of two things. The sensor is being bumped or dropped before it is installed. Or the ECM has gone bad and it is putting out to much drive voltage for the sensors. I suspect that the sensor is being dropped or bumped before or during installation. These sensors are very fragile before they are put in. The sensor voltage from the ECM should be 5.0 volts +- .05 volts.
Thanks,

it sounds to me like a bad censor...you would probably have to take it to a shop for them to run a diagnosic test, that should tell you what censor.

The crank sensor is located on the right or passenger side of the engine, at the back on top of the transmission bell housing. It is held in with two bolts and has a single electrical plug on it. Hope this helps and good luck.

Crank positioning censor

The camshaft position sensor is located on the timing cover on the front of the engine. The crankshaft position sensor is located just above the differential on the transaxle bell housing where it has to be to read from the flywheel the position of the crankshaft. It is easy to see from the front of the engine even though it is on the back half. Just look for the shifter cable and where its bracket ends (on the firewall side of the bracket) glance about 12" to the left and you should have no problem finding it. An 8 mm bolt is holding it in and with that bolt taken out it just pulls out of its hole. Google "95 caravan crankshaft position sensor" and then pick IMAGES so you can see an actual picture of what it looks like.
