Check the brake fluid level. the brake fluid can be low and comes on when stopping or going around curves. the brake fliud level sensor uses the same brake light as the parking brake. if the fliud is low check the pads and /or shoes for wear.

Fuses keep burning out; rear lights don't come on when brakes are applied. Is there a connection between these two problems?

There is a problem with your question
from what you say the brake lights do not come on when the brakes are applied --that would most likely be a faulty brake light switch
The fuse blows when the hand brake is applied indicates a short after the hand brake switch before the brake indicator in the dash that lets you know the hand brake is applied
you say that the rear light come on when the light switch is turned on--does the fuse blow then , when the brakes are applied or only when the hand brake is applied
a clearer question with a lot of detail ( make , model year , engine size etc)will get a closer answer

Brake lights stay on

You problem could just be that the brake switch is out of adjustment or bad.It is located on the brake pedal under the dash.Try pulling up on the brake pedal and see if the lights go off.By pulling up I mean grab the pedal with your hand and pull towards you.The opposite of when you step on the brakes with your foot.If they still stay on you will have to go under the dash and disconnect the brake switch connector and see if the lights go off. There might be 2 switches on the pedal. One is for the cruise shut off and the other the brake switch.Hope this helps.Good luck.

1982 911 sc brake light on, replaced pressure switch but light still on. mechanic says its not the e-brake switch. then what???

Hello there
The brake light onyou are referring to is the light under you went on dash?
This lite should come on with your hand brake on and off .If it does not go off with the hand brake down it is your hand(emergency)brake switch. It needs to be adjusted .Before you try to adjust the switch i recomend to remove your VDO clock gauge and reach with you left hand inside.
Try to locate the back connector on the light switch and gently pull it off and that reconect, this should fix your problem with the light.
If it comes back try to adjust the hand brake switch which is under the rubber cover at the handle

Have a 1995 jeep cherokee that both brake lights went out. all other lights working, signals, reverse, but not brake lights. fuse? have no owners manual. also a right hand drive

Most likely the fuse, if the fuse is good, then check the brake light switch, that is under the dash, near the top of the brake pedal.
Press on the brake pedal with your hand and see if the button is popping out, if not, tap on it and see if it pops out, if not, replace it.

Brake light not working on Kia 2005 Optima tali lights work, bulbs replaced brake light switch replaced but still no brake lights

Check the space gap between the brake lever to the brake switch.

Also check the connector to the brake switch.

You have to look under the dash carefully.

These is not too much room under there.

Just ran you hand along the brake paddle.

Press the brake switch by hand and see is brake light go on.

Check all connectors for corrosion.

Hand brake light on dash of my 1983 FJ40 will not turn off

Hi. Look at the brake master cylinder. See if the brake fluid is low. If there is a wire and a connector on the side of the reservoir, this is the 'fluid-height sensor' when the fluid is low (as the brakes wear, the fluid level drops proportionally), the fluid level is below the sensor, and creates a circuit, thusly illuminating the light.

Brake lights do not work

If your fuses and bulbs are all good, then look above your brake pedal and you will see your brake switch up along your brake pedal arm. It will either be between the brake arm and the firewall so when you brake it pushes the switch in. Or it will be between the dash and the brake arm so when you brake it pulls the switch out. Most likely this switch needs to be replaced

Brake light on the dash is stuck on my 94 land cruiser ...why?

Hello!
From your description it sounds like the warning light switch has either come adrift or stuck? If you examine the hand brake area look around for possibly a White plastic plunger that should be exposed when the hand brake is lifted/applied. To confirm identification there will be two wires possibly in a clip on plug going to it.
If the plunger/switch is in situe then it may have stuck, try gently pushing the plunger in and out it is sprung loaded so resistance should be felt, if you touch it and it is sloppy the try getting behind it and pushing the body back into its slot. You may have to remove the sock/gaitor that covers the hand brake base.
If all fails then try removing carefully the wired plug to it and the light will be permanently off on the Dash.
There you Go!
