Tip & How-To about Mitsubishi Montero
If your car will not start but will crank over then this will tell you where the problem is. An engine needs 3 things to run. Fuel, air, and spark. The way to tell if it is a fuel problem is to take starting fluid and spray in the air cleaner. And if it starts, then it is a fuel problem. Usually a fuel pump, fuel pump relay, or the fuel filter. If it does not start. Then the next thing to check is spark. If you have no spark then it could be several different things. But then you will at least know it is something to do with the electrical system. There are some cases where the timing belt jumps a tooth and makes the timing off where you will get spark and the car still won't start. Usually in this case the car will start, but backfire and run terrible. If you have fuel and spark then it could be the air filter dirty, mass air flow sensor, or something to do with air. I hope that this helps!
