Tip & How-To about Honda Accord
I will post this in the tips as I've been asked alot.
To reset a Honda Maint. Req'd light the specific instructions are in the owners manual but if you don't have one....here goes.
With the engine off depress the odometer trip set button and hold it in. While holding it in turn the ignition on and keep the od. button pressed for ten-15 seconds before turning the ignition off.
Release the set button and start the car.
Note: That lamp is set to the milage default and does not give a true representation of status.
There is no international code for this. However the dealer charges you about $100 to reset it. Here is how to do it for free....
1. Find out what dealer , ( original Honda dealer ), it was purchased from.
2. With the car's VIN call the service department of that dealer and tell them you need the radio pass word code. They have to give it to you even ifit means you fax them a copy of the ownership if you are not the original owner.
3. Enter the code using the preset butons on the radio/CD an example of a code would be 53241 < fake. But not there are 5 5 digit numbers as you only can go up as high a 5, 6 in some cases.
4. If you have the car's manual, write the code down in there or at least write a note where you wrote it down in your house or something.
You can not customize the password.
Hope this info found its way to the needy! Please let me know.
By that I mean vote 4thumbs-up please,

With the igniition off, press and hold the odometer button, turn the key to the "on" position, but do not start the car. Keep the odometer button down until the oil light begins and ends flashing. Turn the key off, and then start car to see if it worked or not.
