If you get an engine that wont start or cuts out then look at the big clump of wires by the dipstick - they all seem pink but one is white on the car side of the plug pull that out and see if the engine fires up .
If so then it might be the Rail Oil Presure Sensor at fault.

i have a 1998 pontiac bonneville. the cars security light is on and the car wont start.

I have the same car, had the same problem. If you know a little about the car heres a cheap fix. The problem is the key reader (i don't know the name of it) take off the panel below the steering wheel, look for a pink wire coming out of steering column cut it in half (careful yellow is air bag). Then take an ohms reader($20.00 @radio shack) read the resistance on the security piece on the key (little black piece) buy a pack of resistors from radio shack ($6.00) and piece together the same resistance that is on the key. I think you get a 10 or 20% variable so it does not have to be perfect. Mine was 1.83k. inside the pink wire is two white wires split them and loop around the resistance wire you made. use the wire coming from the toward the engine, not the one going toward the key. The car should start.And that gives the system a proper read.

Dear sir MY bighorn 4JX1 have problem it sudenly cut of the engine and it start again, but it is comming offen. At beginng it looks fuel shortage, but isn´t, then i notice that before it cut off it make noise as someting hiraulic is shuting down. There is no computer check here where I live, but can I check some sensor? which ones and where they stay?

Rail oil pressure sensor is the one to check first ,buy the engine oil dipstick is a electrical connector with all pink wires going into the engine but on the other side will be one white one maybe looks a bit yellow , now pull this one wire out and see if you can start the car ?

If starts good the sensor is faulty but dont drive like this its only a test ,get a new sensor.

Some times hard to start then tick over lumpy then clears and run well then when revs drop engine cut out will not start no faults found on diagnostic

Is this the 3.0 diesel ? Most likely the rail oil pressure sensor is faulty but wont show as a trouble code cos it reads pressures  from 0 - 27Mpa and can  show pressure  even when  its not there ,hard to spot but pull the white wire from the car side of the injector loom by the dipstick and see if that sorts it out-  or the rail oil pressure control valve - this should show as about 20% on tech 2 at idle  if it goes below 15% the engine stops again no code will set .

3 litre tooper 2003 will not start had it checked they either injecters or ecu had ecu done was gone tryed again did start briefly then stopped what is wrong!

Try putting 2 quarts more oil in as sometimes the pick up pipe for the injector oil pump can draw in air cos of cracking .if it works then its crossmember and oil pan off time the rest will be plain to a good tech.
Also the rail oil pressure sensor can go funny - find the big plug and socket of wires by the dipstick handle ,going into the engine they are all pink but on the other side of the plug and socket is one wire that was white might be a bit yellow now - pull that out and try for start - fools the ECU into thinking that oil pressure is ok to fire the injectors .If it runs then its new sensor time .
