You may have SEVERAL serious problems because of ovreheating and if that's the case, you most probably don't have the proper equipmente and knowledge and you can't solve them on site. Excuse me if you DO have..
Wait till car cools down completly and try If still you can't start the car, call a good mechanic or tow it to your mechanical service of your trust.

Sorry to hear about your problem. There are multiple issues here, which cannot be solved simply. If you or someone you know does not have automotive mechanical knowledge, you need to get your vehicle into a repair shop. If you are looking for a low cost answer, you can check with a local auto part store and see if they can "pull codes" (since you mentioned a "check engine light". This, at least, would give you some idea of what is going on. You can also take it to an ASE certified, and trusted repair facility and have them run a diagnostic. If it won't shift, it's likely something to do with the transmission. If the speedometer doesn't work, either the cabling, sensor is damaged, or you have a blown fuse. You need someone qualified to actually examine your vehicle. Good luck!

That is a good question. Have you been using cheap, remanufactured replacement parts? The reason I ask is because it is my experience over my 37 year career that you usually get the quality that you are willing to pay for.

If you are having someone else (repair shop) do the work for you, sometimes it works best to tell them that you want QUALITY or OEM parts. Otherwise, they are VERY LIKELY to quote you an estimate for the CHEAPEST part available just to keep from losing the job because you are shopping around for a better price.

When it comes to auto repair, cheaper is almost always not better. However, more expensive also does not necessarilly guarantee quality. The guys that do this for a living are usually pretty knowledgeable about which parts are junk and keep coming back to haunt them, and which parts go away and STAY away.

Due to FixYa rules, I cannot be specific when it comes to brands, companies, etc., but there are a couple high-volume "re-manufacturers" out there that I would not trust to buy a bolt from them to mount the squeeky horn on my bicycle, let alone, trust my Corvette to them.
