I had the same problem also on my 1994 previa supercharge

u mean is knocking noise?
i think it came from the shaft in front of engine that drives the accesories pully in front. when the a/c is running or the rpm rise up a bit, the noise is gone. try go under the vehicle and spot where the noise come from. as i know is come from the shaft in front of the engine. the coupling need to be replace.

Couds of grayish smoke when starting

If it's the org. engine it will has over 200,000 miles on it.
It's normal to has the valve steam seal/oil seal on the head to leak oil into the cyclinder.

The smoke you see is the motor oil drop from the seals.

It land on the top of the cyclinders and it create black smoke at start up.

The inexpensive fix is to start using high mileage oil with seal conditioner.
This will help soften the rubber seals and help reduce internal oil leak.

The correct fix is to wait until it's time for a head gasket replacement and let the professional service the head.

Complete head service is the only method to stop this internal oil drip problem.

It turns over but sound like there is no

If you have the sound of no compression you either have a timing chain that has jumped time, or valve seats that have dropped out of the cylinder head. Check the timing, and, it it is correct, the head has to come off. The cyl head removal is an incredibly difficult undertaking in a Previa. I drop the whole engine out of the vehicle to work on them.

Over heated now wont start

you most likly blew the head gasket and destroyed the top half of your motor. NEVER EVER run a vehicle hot, you're just asking for trouble, becuase now your motor is most likly seized

so most likly you need a new motor or have yours rebuilt, either way your looking at at LEAST 1000 bucks

so dont drive when vehicle is hot

Rattling Noise

The power steering pump could be going bad. The noise coming from the catalytic converter could be something as simple as a mounting bracket coming loose, or worst case something busted internally.

I need struts for my 1991 toyota previa. besides

There are a few other things that could be wrong with it. Such as ball jionts, wheel bearings, and tie rod ends. although it is rare, it is not unheard of for bad struts to cause them to go bad. when you put them on go and have the van alligned. when they allign it they will tell you if any of the other parts are wore out or not.

Indicators work intermitently

try the flasher can for your indicators, you should be able to locate this by turning on the indicators then stick your head under drivers side or passenger side dash. should be a small round metal tube case or a coulored box about as half as big as a matchbox. you should be able hear/feel a clicking sound everytime the indicators flash. good luck.
