Hi
Is it a diesel or petrol motor? If it is Diesel or petrol then black smoke is a sign that it is using excessive fuel so it could be a blocked air filter or fuel filter. if it is a diesel motor. So check these 2 items first.

I have a toyota EMINA manual, which has a loud

typically with toyota's one of the main floors is the big end, ie the connecting rods to the crank, if looked after these are very good vehicles especially the diesel ones, but if the oil is not kept clean this can lead to allot of unneeded wear and tear, does it bang as well under stress? ie putting your foot down it really isn't the end of the world as the engine is easily changed and for possibly a lot less than it would cost to repair, shop around the breakers i am sure you will find a bargain, and some even fit it for you....hope this helps
