1987 Toyota Camry - Page 8 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have a 87 camry it looks like there is a oil
Hello Mark.
The next most common thing I would look into here is the oil pressure sensor. They sometimes pull apart and leak at the seam.
Your 2 liter engine has it's sensor on the top left side of the cylinder head.
If the concentration of oil seems to be on the top side of the engine a valve cover gasket may have cracked.
A severe leak will often wash dirt off of an engine so look for an oil washed area. If nothing apparent it may be a good idea to give your engine a quick cleanup to help you find the leak as oil can travel a long way on an engine.
Hope you find the source OK.
Thank you for using FixYa!

My 87 toyota camry wont start has spark and fuel
does it have the 4 cylinder engine? if yes you could have broken timing belt witch opens and closes intake and exhaust valves. same for V6 engines.the belt must be replaced and engine crank and cam shafts retimed with new belt istallation. one to tell is when cranking the engine turns over kinda fast.

1987 toyota camry starter removal diagram
Hi there,
Best thing to do is buy a Haynes or Clinton's repair shop manual at your local AP store for your particular vehicle. Then read up on it in the trouble shooting section or the step by step RR section. You can purchase these at your local Auto Parts store or buy them on line at ebay burdfrenzy

After drivung for about 20 miles the car starts jerking.
It sounds like you have an emmisions problem. Under your hood there should be a diagram of your emmision system.. Check all lines and elect connections for cracks and bad wires. Does your engine light come on? Most auto parts stores will check for fault codes for free.

My Car dies when I first start it up,like the RPM is low?
Could be throttle position sensor or faulty 02 senosrs that tell computer how much gas to give engine. If this is fuel inject anyways. If it is throttle body, then try turning idle screw clockwise. You can view a full free online repair manual and free registration at autozone.com
