How to test & specs' on the TPS

Keep the ignition switch to ON engine OFF. Hook the scanner, diagnostic computer or Techstream and take the reading. With the throttle pedal fully released it should read the TP sensor value between 9.8% to 18%. It is better to keep the value as close as to 9.8%. To adjust the TP sensor, loosen the two torx screws, and adjust the sensor to the desired value.

Why does my 2000 Toyota Echo misfire on left turns ?

It sounds like you have a wiring or connector problem in the steering column. I'm surprised your mechanic did not think to check for that.

Why is my 2000 Toyota Echo misfiring on left turns ?

Sounds like you have a wire in the steering column that is shorting when you turn left but goes back to close to normal when you turn back to straight. Check the wiring harness coming out of the steering column.

Why does my car **** and hesitate and has failed smog 2X is now a gross polluter ?

Because you failed to have a shop look at the data & make the required repairs & get caught up on preventative maintenance BEFORE you went to inspection If you were in fact at a shop, for any reason, then they have no idea how to test vehicle Have you considered the motor is shot & you have leaking valves?

Toyota echo failed smog

The car will need to be scanned for trouble codes. Whatever codes come up will identify what part of the engine is faulty. These codes are not totally exact in pin pointing the problem. You can take the car to Auto Zone or Advance Auto and ask them to run a scan on the vehicle. Then you'll have the codes, but you'll need to go a garge to have the car fixed.
