Hi,
I have the 1998 Rav 4, 5 door, I m really struggling to find what the correct tyre presure is? And also would I be able to take it on the beach?
Thomas Heime is wrong, wrong, wrong! That is the max. pressure that the tyre can handle! the proper tyre pressure is written below the latch on the passenger side door. Open the passenger door, look at the label below the latch and there it is.

my cruise control is not working need to know what fuse i need to check
There are 3 places on the Rav4 where fuses can be located and checked. for the cuise control.
The back of the cruise control stacking switch has been know to fail (fall apart) and Toyota issued a TSB with replacement switch.
if it is the fuses then they most likely are related to cruise control system: Stop, Dome, Gauge and Igniton
The interior fuse box
The main engine fuse box (by brake fluid)
Cruise control ECU is under the glovebox.
Cruise control actuator is under hood (by driver side brake fluid/booster)Throttle position sensor (to detect if your foot is on gas pedal)
Cruise control switch on the clutch pedal too (if you have 5spd manual)
Brake lights are the deactivate signal for the cruise control

How do you replace a fuel pump on a 1998 toyota rav4?
you need to remove the rear seat to get to it, just keep in mind the system is preasurized, which in english means you need to loosen the fuel filter in the front of the car first, "THIS IS CRITICAL" if not you will cause gas to get all over the interior. The 96-00 rav4 has a hatch under the carpet, under the seats in the rear. it is a pain to get to, once you remove the seats and carpet you will see it. I would recomend you bring it to a dealer if you dont know what you are doing. But if you are like me and figured what the hell, then you will want to take these steps first...
1. Let the car sit for a long period of time, about 3 hours or more.
2. Have a low amount of fuel, do not have a full tank
3. loosen the gas cap
4. Remove the intake, and the fuse box,
5. Loosen the top nut on the fuel filter under the hood to let out the remaining pressure, do not loose the O rings. This is a good time to replace that filter too, it is about 30 bucks from toyota.
6. open the hatch in the rear,
7. remove the electric feeds from the pump.
NOTE: YOU CAN REMOVE THE POWER FROM THE PUMP AND START THE CAR TO TAKE OUT THE PREASURE, BUT I FOUND IT BETTER TO DO IT MY WAY DUE TO WHAT IT TAKES TO START IT AFTER YOU DO THIS.
8. line the floor of the rav with Plastic, bags, or cardboard, or something.
9. remove old pump
10. install new pump
11. Re attach the fuel filter or install new filter
12. get car back together enough to start it, make sure you have all the lines connected, if not gas will get everywhere...
Good Luck, it was a FUN adventure to do this...

what is the ECT power button for on the 1997 rav4
The ECT button (which stands for "Electronically Controlled Transmission")
changes the shift points for the automatic transmission. When engaged,
the transmission shifts later, allowing the engine to get to a higher
power level and accelerate faster. Gas mileage is usually reduced in
this mode. Use it when you need to get up to speed faster; for example,
to merge into fast moving traffic. The normal position for this switch
is OFF. ECT acts like a turbo. Now dont go on street racing ;)

battery light stays on
Hello and welcome to FixYa! If the battery light is on, I strongly suggest that you have
the battery charged. It can be an indication of a weak battery or a faulty
alternator. If the battery light still on after charging then the problem will
surely be on the alternator itself. If that's the case the alternator should be
replaced to resolve the problem. If the battery won't hold charge even on a new alternator
then the problem will be on the battery itself. It surely is in the end of it's
service life and replacement will be necessary. You may try to reset it to by removing the positive battery
connector, letting it sit for at least 5mins. then reconnect it again. This
will reset the system and can get the battery light off. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good
one!

Recently, I've had trouble getting into 1st gear (5 speed manual transmission) Most of the time it works, but occasionally it just won't go into first. Someone suggested I check the brake fluid, I did and it's full. Then I was told to check the clutch fluid, but am unable to find the reservoir. I was told it should be right next to the brake fluid reservoir on top, but no such luck. Am I looking in the wrong place?? Does it even exist?? Any help would be appreciated.
If you look at the drivers side of the brake fluid reservoir you should see a rubber hose that feeds to the clutch master cylinder. The clutch master cylinder is kept full via the brake fluid reservoir.
