Sounds like 1 of the following:
  • Dirty or corroded battery connection
  • Loose battery cable
Either of these conditions will both prevent the battery from properly recharging and prevent sufficient power from the battery to start the car. If the car won't start only when the engine is warm, you may have a bad starter that works when it's cold but not when it's hot.

My 1990 toyota celica has a bad vibration in

Hi,
Have you ever replaced the shocks / struts? Are you sure your tire does'nt have a bump spot or out of round? I usually will swap the tires front to back to see if the vibration or bumping moves, good way to tell if the tire is bad. I've gotten some pretty poor tires before, some do have factory flaws that will cause that. Shocks will cause that also. Sway bar pins / joints that are worn can cause that also.

Thanks for choosing FixYa Kyle. Your starter may be going bad. It will need checked or it may be your ignition module in the steering wheel. It may also be the starter solenoid. Anyone of these can cause your issue Kyle. You may want to check all your wires as one may be loose or bad. Test the parts before you change them.

Welcome to Fixya

Check the battery terminals and the starter could be getting hot and not kicking in. It could be the starter solenoid too. Test the starter, after driving the card shut down the engine then tap the starter using a hammer while you have someone start the engine. If the engine starts right away then the problem would be the starter or the solenoid.

you need to take the valve cover back off and right below the threads on the 4 nuts that hold the valve cover on take a small chain wrench and unscrew the spark plug tubes out of the cylinder head...you can then clean the hole out where the tubes screw in with brake clean to get all of the oil out and leave the spark plugs in while doing this so you dont fill the cylinders up.......then clean the threads up and get some liquid white teflon paste to put on the threads and put tubes back in but try not to over tighten...you dont want to crush the tube cause you want be able to get a spark plug socket in to change the plugs.....just snug them up.....i hope that this was the info that you needed....let me and fixya know if i was any help to you and a thumbs up and a comment would be appreciated.....good luck and have a blessed day......they make a special tool to take the tubes out but the small chain wrench works much better and faster......if i can help in any other way let me know......

Hello, I recently bought a 1990 Toyota Celica 4cyl

same thing with mine. except the clock only worked once. i took it out and bought another one out of a junkyard. these cars aren't easy to find in junkyards, mainly because they are invincible, but you could try checking around.

My 1990 toyota celica gt

Well your problem is either a bad level sender, located in the gas tank, or a bad gauge which is located in the instrument cluster. Get a service manual, cheap on eBay, and decide which task looks easier, to take out the cluster or the gas tank and go with it. You will need a used cluster with a known good gauge, look on eBay, junkyards, or Craigslist. You should be able to locate a new sender at a parts store or googling around for it. If you drop the tank, do yourself a favor and replace the fuel pump while you are in there.

If you google long enough you can actually find the resistance values for the sender. This means that you can troubleshoot the gauge by using a variable resister in place of the sender. So with the sender wire disconnected you can figure out which of the two suspects is bad before you go ahead and pull the sender and pump out of the gas tank.
