It sounds like you catalytic converter is clogged. You can get a universal replacement cat from Jeg's for $50.
If it is a clogged cat, it will be getting really hot.

Here is what it looks like, just follow the fuel line down from the engine and back towards the tank and you'll see it.

Check your fuel delivery system, if the car is turning over and not starting you might have a bad fuel pump or fuel rail. Do you smell fuel when you try and start the engine? Or there is a longshot that the timing is off. Check the timing first.

Point the rotor @ the number one plug position on the distributor, but be sure that the number one cylinder is @ top dead center (all the way up).

replacing is easy, you could also buy recon kits and do it yourself. You will feel when it is getting dangerously low, the clutch will take a few pumps to work, good luck
