If you drained you radiator coolant, and refilled it, you may have air in your system somewhere. If you have air in your system, the temp gauge will gradually go up, up, up to where it looks like its going to overheat, but then it will come back down, sometimes below normal operating temp., and then climb back up. If this is what is happening, you need to burp your system. Get a special funnel that allows you to fill your radiator and run your engine until all the air is out.

It seems to me that you have a bad fuel pressure regulator, but before replacing the FPR locate the fuel filter disconnect the line that goes to the engine and not the one that goes into the fuel tank put a hose on the tip of fuel filter, place a container under to drop fuel now have someone turn the ignition key ON but engine off while you are going to observe for fuel, pressure needs to be strong if it looks to weak then it might be your fuel pump I also recommend to change the fuel filter sense you are there ,also check for power on the injectors connections with a test light, after doing this and everything seems fine then go head and replace the FPR fuel pressure regulator,WARNING working with fuel is highly dangerous make sure fuel doesn't touch any cables or look around for anything that can detonated fire, GOOD LUCK!!!!

You have a blown head gasket

what about your fuel pump? when it get hot it stops and when it gets cool works. It is better as soon as you do have the engine shut off when is hot,try to check if any fuel is coming from the fuel tank to the engine if it doesn't the renew the fuel pump. Also my advise is to ask your mechanic as an expert he does have the special equipment to check the fuel pressure flow to the injection system,or if it is your vehicle fitted with carburettor to check the mechanical fuel pump whether it does send fuel at all.
Good luck.

If your not overheating or losing coolant, its more than likely engine oil burning. If it is coolant related, possible blown head gasket.

test your car's electrical system with a different horn, other than the possible faulty one or test the horn itself, outside the car with a different power source, this is to isolate which is faulty , the car's electrical system or the horn itself, if horn is faulty then replace it, if not check your wirings.

this old car is damper controlled and no damper motors back when.
old lovely simple tech. a knob a cable and the bell crank lever on a damper door.
(my online source can not do old 84s.)

so will answer in the, pretend im there, mode.
i wiggle the knob, i see cable flex, i follow it with my eyes.
it goes top the damper, lever, it moves 1 for 1 ratio ,knob to lever.
if not?, the cable is bad or not clamped.
if lever moves and damper dont, its broken , the damper mech. busted.

easy huh, just wiggle and look, gota love old school parts
