are you sure the pump has a timing adjustment on it? I have never heard of such a thing. Sounds like the timing description is for the distributor adjustment for timing.

The oil filter right below the oil sump under the hood (engine). A circular\cup shaped thing projected out.
Remove the air filter assembly and under that your spark plugs are present.

There are 2 sensors. One is used for the temperature guage Single wire connection - Yellow/white(1 on diagram). The one I suspect you are looking for is used by the ECU and is at the back of the engine, has a green connecting head with 2 wires leading to it, yellow and white/black(2 on diagram). Then there is a third used by the A/C(iii on diagram)

Check for a vacuum leak around the intake or broken vacuum lines around the engine

You just check the 'brake fluid' reservoir.. it's the same one..The 1997 Terios also has a clutch cable don't forget..

I believe that there's no connection to the first issue. I suggest that you have the brake fluid lines bled out. There must be air on it that's why the brakes is locking up. You may need to replace the brake pistons as well if found out that it's worn out.
