1991 Daihatsu Charade Questions & Answers
How do I disconnect ac on a 91 charade.?
remove compressor drive belt I guess, removes main mechanical burden ...if you want to remove compressor itself, or even condensor, to save the weight of car carrying that now redundant component around, you can do that too..bear in mind before loosening off any hoses or steel gas lines of the system that it will contain a/c coolant gas still under some pressure. Compressor is the main weight and mechanical burden on engine, although when system is switched off the compressor pulley load drive effort is low, anyway.if car has one "serpentine" belt driving everything, rather than a separate AC drive belt, then, it is possible that removing the compressor will necessitate fitting a new shorter engine belt compatible with no AC.Depends of car's belt arrangement.
Manual
A check engine light means a failure of the emission control system, this sets a fault code, have that code read.
What is thermostat for
The thermostat regulates the flow of coolant in the engine helping it get to operating temp quickly as to minimize engine wear during warm up to operating temperature
When i turn on the ac,the radiator fan comes
you may find that this is quiet normal, in a lot of vehicles when the A/C is switched on the fans will also come on but may only run at half speed....hope this helps....cheers
My daihatsu has problem---
make sure that the fuel pump is calibrated , check the fuel filter and the fuel in the tank - if in case there is water logged in the tank. If so clean the tank and check once again.
The fuel pump can be the main suspect. secondly it will be good to see that on engine warm up or temperature build up the ignition system must be checked.
The motor in my 1991
Hey mate i had the exact same problem in my 95 Charade 1L. It is an electrical problem and nothing at all mechanical. My friend who is a mechanic wasnt really sure what it was but then found a cable under the dash that i think the clutch hit a limit switch or something and it tells the computer to shut down. He didnt know why and i cant think of anyreason either. Anyway, he pulled it right out of the circuit and threw it away and i havent had a problem since and the car runs exactly the same economy and performance wise it just doesnt stall any more. You wouldnt happen to know about the location of the o2 sensor in the one litre model would you?? Cheers, Zac.
Need to adjust hand break
hmmm....rear brake shoe now a days or during the late 80's, have their rear brakes fitted w/ automatic adjuster, it adjust itself by using the handbrake for several times while ur stepping at ur brake pedal!
If that doesn't work anymore that means ur brake shoes are out of the minimum thickness!
My suggestion would be to bring ur car to Mida's Brake Repair, if u have them near ur place, they have FREE check up and they will show you wuts wrong w/ it in actual, YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO PAY THEM and YOU CAN SAY "NO" if u have no money for the repair!
(If there is no Midas )
Do this, jack up one wheel at a time, free ur hand brake, make sure there are stopper on both front wheels, go under one wheel, open the adjust slot, click the adjuster while turning the tyre, just to make sure that the brakes is touching the drum, click it until the desired resistance of rolling is achieve!
Do that to the other side wheel!
Hope that gives u more grip on that prob!
My left & right indicator does not work &
There could be several things that will cause your blinkers to stop working. Most will have to be diagnosed by a QUALIFIED automotive electrical shop but there is one thing you can try first. Step one is to turn your blinker stalk rapidly between right and left turn. Don't damage anything, just go back and forth several times real fast. Next, turn your emergency flashers on and off. Rapidly, like you did with the turn signal stalk. Again, don't damage anything, just do it as rapidly as you can, several times. What you are trying to do is clean the contacts inside the switches. Those two circuits work together to operate the turn signal lights and the emergency flashers are rarely, if ever, used and the contacts get a little corroded.
I have a 1992 daihatsu
Some sensors on cars will not set a code untill 3 to 5 minutes of drive time. So uplugging them and plugging them back in will not set a code. Also some of them will not set a code until the car has been driven twice, this is called a two trip code set. If you haven't already done this I would do a tune up, ie plugs wires cap rotor air and fuel filter these are the most common fixes for bad fuel economy.
