Daewoo lanos 1997 firing ouder see image

IN GENERAL ON ANY VEHICLE WITH A DISTRBUTOR CAP . 1 take off the distributor cap , do not unplug the leads . 2 Get someone to hold the cap wearing insulated gloves . hold the cap and lead away from any moving parts . 3. Get them to watch the rotor arm 4 give the ignition switch a short starting burst like 5 seconds max 5 check back with your helper that the rotor arm travelled clockwise . now look at the contacts inside the cap and check the ht lead from each . call the lead going to the plug furthest left of you as no1 now follow the lead from the next striking point in the distributor cap first to the left of that no one and follow that back to the plug , this is on a clockwise rotation . If it is anti clockwise it would be to the right . Always make sure when replacing the distributor cap that the cap sits correctly in all its internal moulding points . This is not an easy thing to do but can be acheived with time care and patience . Never allow any jewellery or ties or any other loose clothing to be worn when working over moving parts. Always think safety , not speed .

Car cranks but wont start

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

Very high idle after the engine is warmed up

Have a fault reading done to determine the sensors that have failed. Could be a MAF/MAP sensor problem or an ambient air temp sensor.

it goes on the throttle body opposite the throttle linkage.Follow the throttle cable to the throttle body...you may have to take some covers off... but it is a pretty easy fix.

You need to replace the IDLE CONTROL VALVE as it gets blocked.Try just tapping it with a bit of wood ,to see if it raises the idle speed..Sometimes just this works.
