What are you going to do with the shift control module , as you call it ? It's called a TCM - transmission control module . Are you going to change it in hopes it fixes your problem , if it is a problem . Do you have a factory scan tool an service repair information ? If you change the module it will need programming more then likely . Do yourself a favor an take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop.

Check your fuel pressure, you should be at 32-35 psi, if it's too low, you wont get enough fuel to meet the demands. it could also be your crankshaft position sensor, that should give you a check engine light.

could be the switch one side not working test with meter

Look for mounting screws on the under the hood side of the fuse box

Could be the master cylinder.

is it too much to ask is trans auto or manual? mine manual. try to know all cars are not all the same. some are 2wd, others are 4wd, autos and sticks. count those 4 permutations. there. wild guess, 2wd jeep XJ jeep 97 < same as my mail lady uses. has a/T the cable is broken from shift lever to box. or worse. looking at the cable , is a top idea.

post 2 times, why?why not say, this,my shift lever shows.PRNDL (this is called and automatic)drive is dead, low is dead, Reverse works. only.in drive its reverse, in low its reverse.this can be a simple bad ,dead shift cable.all it takes is looking at end of cable to find this truth, 2 persons, 1 shifts, other LOOKS. bingo.or not. if not the cable the box is toast. or this is called a manual transmission. a stick.gear 1,2,3,4,5,fails, but R, reverse is all i get out of my manual trans, (rare is hens teeth but fixed many like it) bad shift rails, or detents.

Do you have a check engine light on or any codes ? This could narrow your problem. If your crank sensor was the problem before, might of gotten a defective new part. Check the warranty.

Possible bad coolant temp sensor.

Depends on the engine, but if you follow the canter wire coming out of the distributor you are going to end up at the coil.

It's more then likely the sending unit in the fuel tank but you should have checked first . This vehicle's fuel send units input is to the PCM - powertrain control module not directly to the fuel gauge . The fuel level information is sent from the PCM on the CCD data communication network to which the instrument cluster reads it . so you are saying, A/T transmission problems. do elaborate, its a complex system there. does reverse work ok. did you check fuses first. then check AFT fluid levels using oper guide method not guessing? scan it yet, using any cheap scan tool (you or any shop) if you see p07xx errors (DTC) those are real, post em. last is a full flush and filter. inside, the transmisson may be electronically shifted, like the AW4 is, you never stated what trans is there, and that does matter. if inputs to the TCM are wrong it will not shift at all.

Assuming this is an automatic, the linkage could be caught between gears. This happens when a motor mount is broken and the engine has been punched to high rpms. As the engine rocks over, the linkage comes out of alignment. Place in Park, Turn the engine off. Open the hood and manually pull the throttle cable wide open as far as it will go. Repeat a few times. While you are there check all three cables as they attach to the throttle bracket. If all is well the next start up should be fine.

Check the plug wires. It does no take many loose connections to take the kick out of an engine. Turn off the engine and press all the wires down around the cap of the distributor and do the same for each plug. If that does not help, one of the wires may need replacement? New set of wires start at $30 on a six cylinder.
