Where do I change the gearbox oil in a mini cooper 2005?

You don't! Take it to a mechanic! If you don't already know how to do that procedure, you are NOT qualified. Do yourself and your beautiful mini a favor. Have a certified wrench do the work. Jason

My 2007 mini cooper S

The DVD is under the RH seat on the floor. There is a door that provides access. You need to slide the seat right forward to see it. It may have dust on the DVD so eject it and clean it and try again. Maybe a DVD cleaner with some small imbedded brushes on a disk might help remove dust from the head. Do not spray with cleaning fluid or try any other way of cleaning the head otherwise you may damage the laser assembly.

I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S and the rear wiper was

Most likely a faulty ground connection. The people that changed the motor should have checked this out before you got it back. THEY are liable for the repair since what they did had no effect on the operation of your wiper. For what you paid them to repair it, the thing should work fine. They did not do their job and should happily fix it for you no questions asked. Take it back to them and make a formal complaint if they want to charge you more. But it HAS TO WORK properly before you leave them.

Most minis have battery fitted either in the boot or under rear seat
if in the boot then look under the carpet and you will find a black plastic cover and its under there
Or the same under the seat.

Nice to see you have brought a good English car.

How do i change battery terminals

Very carefully. Batteries are potentially dangerous and can explode and accidental short circuits can cause personal burns and fires. Before you start make sure you know best practice for handling and working with batteries. It is not often something goes wrong with a battery terminal causing it to need replacing. Mostly the originals are machine crimped onto the cable and it is a delicate and protracted affair to remove them so first ensuring the battery cable will still be long enough the cables are cut as close to the terminal as possible, the end of the cable is prepared and the new terminal fitted. Soldering is the best method of fitting but if that isn't convenient there is a wide variety of types and sizes available at most auto factors or auto electrical shops, many of these are attached to the cable with pinch bolts or screws. Best results need terminals that are designed for the size of cable fitted to your car. It is often better to buy the ground lead assembly if it is a short type.

My 2005 mini cooper will not stay in overdrive between speeds of 55-60 MPH.

Try an owners forum before you call the dealer. My guess is there's a speed control unit problem.

How do i get my speedometer to work on my mini cooper?

In general most modern cars use a speed sensor in the transmission to send an electronic pulse to the car's computer which is then sent to the speedometer's step motor ( standard dial with needle ) or to a digital display. Failure can occurs at several places in these systems. If your cruise control still works that rules out problems with the speed sensor and all connections through and including the computer. Likely problem would be in a connection between the computer and the speedometer or the speedometer head itself may be in need or repair or replacement.

Hydraulic clutch problem

brake fluid goes in the reservoir on top of the clutch master cylinder. If there is no reservoir check for a line to the brake master cylinder reservoir as some cars use the brake master cylinder reservoir as a common unit . Check that that reservoir is full. Bleed out the slave cylinder to remove air in the system.

My 2005 mini cooper went in for minor service basically an oil change (everything else running perfectly) and now it won't start - mechanic asked for spare key and that didn't work.

Hello! Why did your mechanic used his computer (notebook) for resetting service warning? It can be reset by holding the trip button and turn the ignition on, then release at reset message, then press again trip, until the message flashes and then release and press short again. You can try to reset BCM by disconnecting battery leads, leave it one hour, then reconnect, turn the ignition, without starting the car, wait one minute, then start the car.

My engine is very loud and has a rattle

Jennifer - Mini's of this age have a know issue with the timing chain, that can cause that sound. Instead of having a company wide "recall" to bring back all the mini's, the company instead has "open campaigns" in which they fix the issue when the cars come in for other maintenance. Other things that could be wrong is that the engine is very low on oil. If you are close to a mini dealership, I recommend trying to get an appointment there. If not, have it checked out by a mechanic who is used to working with european cars / mini's.
