Escort evap canister purge vavle 97
No. However the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve could be giving you this problem. Have the IAC checked out. Sometimes the solenoid will cease to function. Also take it off and check for any carbon deposits that may be blocking the idle air bypass ports.
The second thing to check would be the EGR valve.
Do you have a check engine light? Had the codes read to determine problem codes?

Shift Interlock System
An ignition/shifter interlock mechanism is installed to prevent shifting the transaxle out of the PARK position unless the ignition switch is rotated to RUN and the brake pedal is applied. The floor shift interlock system consists of:
- an actuator assembly integral to the ignition/shifter interlock cable assembly.
- a bracket retaining the actuator.
- the necessary wiring.
The solenoid is energized when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position, locking the transaxle range selector lever in the PARK position. When the brake pedal is applied and the stoplight switch (13480) is activated, the ignition/shifter interlock actuator is deactivated and the transaxle range selector lever can be moved out of the PARK position.

Door ajar warning will not turn off
Inside of the door will you will see a small button switch. This switch is what the computer uses to tell if there is an open door and turn on the interior lights. It should be located near the front of the door will and about half way up in the door jam. If you can see which switch is sticking they are simple to remove and replace. They will have a hex shaped bottum that resembles a bolt. Simply turn the old switch out and replace it with a new one readily available at most autopart stores and car dealerships (that have a parts department). You should never attempt to clean or oil any electrical component of a vehicle as this may chase the part to short out and pose a fire hazard. As always if you are unsure of what you are looking for (door jam light switch) please consult a professional. Happy motoring.
