Keys stuck ignition of my H2

Some times they get stuck and some time they come out. It seems to have some thing to do with the power?

I finished my H2 key issue today. Here is what I had to do; You will need a flat head screw driver, a phillips head screw driver, a 2"round mirror, the smallest 6 point star alternate head screw driver, wire strippers, a 20x power magnifying glass or eyepiece a head mounted flashlight.

1. Disassemble the inner tray under the arm rest
2. remove the arm rest itself.
3. Using the 1/8" 6 point screw driver or bit remove the shift lever handle, turn the ignition on so you can put the lever in 2nd for easier access to the locking screw on the front side of the shift handle.
4. Use the flat head screw drive to pry up the cup holder and gear select console up.
5.Move the gear select handle (now a black 1/4" dia plastic rod w/a yellow 1" long spout at the top)
using your 2" mirror locate the connector at the bottom of the gear select handle under the main console. On the aft side of the handle, is a tab to remove the connector.
6. Using the flathead screw driver depress the tab and pull the connector out.
You will see 1 red wire, 1 black wire, one green wire, and a green and yellow wire, in the same outlet T
he yellow wire is the key/ignition wire. Mine was completely severed I had to use my 20x eyepiece to see how to properly splice it, and using the wire strippers remove the cheap insulation which easily cracks causing the yellow wire to crack, due to the poor engineering and material selection of the insulation. Once I removed the shielding and spliced it, I had to use the eyepiece to see the connector to put back the wires that also broke while I was trying to remove the connector. I then had to spice and reinsert all the wires one at a time into their respective slots. Remove these wires one by one so as not to get them mixed up. Reverse the original disassembly steps and you will have a once again working system. This took me about 2 hours working in the H2. It's easy to do, I am not mechanically inclined and have never done this before but my key comes out of the ignition and everything works fine. In spite of the cheap materials used by GM;'s lowest bidders. For the record I am a Italialn/German sports car driver, this H2 is one of the neatest vehicles we have ever owned. High gas prices low fuel economy don't mean diddly when your driving through a mud slide, snow storm, or rain storm, with 2' deep road puddles, or 3' foot high snow drifts while going up hill on a winding road. Never mind the naysayer and haters the way things are going Hummers are going to be the way to get where you need to get.

2003 Hummer H2 sunroof won't close

Hi there. My one of the sun roofs in my Hummer stopped working today (and it's about to rain!). It will go half way then just stop when I try to close it. I tried closing it manually but I'm afraid that I may break it. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks soooo much!

if you do not use the sunroof on a regular basis the water standing in the track fills the cable tube and causes it to rust. unfortunately the only way to fix it is to replace the entire sunroof track. they do not sell parts separately except for the motor. to test the motor remove the 2 screws in the cover the switch is attached to. slide the cover foeward and it will come off. leave the wires plugged in and take the 2 10mil bolts out of the motor and it will come off. then try the sunroof switch and see if the motor works. if so, you need a new track. if not check voltage to motor. sanders paint and body 34695

Your airbags probably have an air leak or are just starting to crack. Go to you tube and type in Suncore hummer suspension air bag replacement. They have a whole how to install that also show your suspension and how it fails

Hummer H2 will not start.

I have a 2003 Hummer H2 6.0L with 72,000 Miles
VIN-5GRGN23U73H117752
I was idling in a long line at a carwash and my engine shutoff. When I attempted to restart, it would not.
I put the gear in park to restart, and when it failed to start I shift to neutral, tried and failed.
I did notice two things, at the carwash, one I may have run out of gas because my low fuel light was on and the tank looked empty by the gauge. I put a gallon of gas in with a can but it still failed to start.
I also observed that has I moved the gear shift the lighted bar that appears normally below each gear is no longer visible . It is the indicator for the PRNDL321 Display.
I had the truck towed home and tried a couple of things, but I am not a mechanic and it is not going well.
I tried several things at home including two scan tools that would not read my vehicle.
Starter relay does click when I turn the key to start.
Solenoid does not click when I turn the key to start.
The battery is new and at full charge.
The headlights go out when I turn the key to start, but I believe that’s normal.
So far I have put 15 gallons in the tank and tried that. Low fuel light still on.
I tried disconnecting the battery for an hour and reconnecting it.
I observed all the lights on my display and the lighted bar to indicate what gear is selected is the only thing missing from the display.
The gear does change in the transmission properly and does coincide with my console shift mechanism. Park is mechanically Park, and Neutral is mechanically Neutral.
9. I tried two types of scan tools, and while they did power up when connected, both
would give the same message, (Tool cannot communicate with the vehicle.
Check wiring).
The Scan Tools I tried were the INNOVA and Actron both OBD2
Maybe you can help me fix this without a Scan Tool, but if not please advise on proper tool. I have the manufacturers shop manual for my vehicle.
HELP!!!

It's a factory security system problem
Step 1: keys in your hand, outside of vehicle, all doors closed
Step 2: press lock on the factory fob and horn honk it a couple times
Step 3: unlock the driver's door manually with the key, get in and start it right away

My dash board guages in my H2 don't come on

None of the dash board indicators come on.., Fuel level, speedometer, nothing. Occasionally they might pop on, but not all the time

My solution to dashboard instrument panel gauges and lights not working was to disconnect negative cable to car battery, then reconnect. After doing so, everything worked.

And the solution to instrument panel coming on and off sporadically may also be a loose battery connection.

driver's side air blowing warm, won't change

Regardless of temp setting, the driver's side blows, but doesn't alter temp. Just blows hot or warm air. Passenger side responds to the settings on the control panel properly... air is cold, heat is hot. Driver's side doesn't change, though. Can turn the dial down as low as possible, or high as possible, and just get warm air blowing. Still get proper automatic shifting of vents used (heat on feet and legs, cold on upper vents) but the temp doesn't change. Like I said, the passenger side works just fine.

Sounds like there is a crack in the vent that leads to the drivers side, and hot air from the engine is leaking through.

P0300 - (random misfire) only happens when the engine is cold

P0300 - (random misfire) only happens when the engine is cold (hasn't been run). I erase the code and restart the engine and the misfire does not happen again. It can be fine all the while the engine is hot and running. But happens again when the engine is cold again.

First start by making sure that the spark plugs are AC Delco plugs or other WILL trigger a P0300. If these are good, the next thing to check is the coolant temperature sensor(ECT). If this is problematic, it will cause too much fuel to be delivered and misfires to occur on all cylinders.

It's that infamous "chip" in the key that becomes a nightmare to many. The security light may or may not start flashing. Sometimes it stays on steady. Gradually the car begins not cranking anymore or if it cranks it will start and die in a second. Randomly it will do this more and more often until it won't start anymore. VATS, PASSkey and Passlock immobilizer systems are killing cars all over North America, they have a short lifespan and are certainly more effective against owners than thieves. Here is how you save your car
QUICK FIX TRICKS
1st trick, Try a spare key that is newer or used less. The pins wear down with use and so do the keys causing the security to fail.
2nd trick, (if not starting) turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start. I did this in my regal for more than a year. If its shutting down while running, I'm sorry I have no quick fix...
CHEAP FIX: Bypass the chip in your key. This is temporary, but effective until the TDM (theft deterrent module) in the dash poops out. Then you're kinda screwed. I was told that these types of key security systems have a 7-10 year life span. Sucks for us. This link explains the "Key Issue" pretty well.
----- http://vats.likeabigdog.com/

If you're gonna tear your car apart anyway, just do this next fix and bypass it all together. Its more money, less work, and a PERMANENT fix. Up to you tho.

NEVER WORRY AGAIN FIX: Bypass the whole VATS/Passlock/passkey I or passkey II system entirely. Literally take it out, and throw it away. I just did this in my Regal. Took about an hour. It took longer to find the solution than it did to fix the problem. They sell a unit for 200 bucks to totally bypass this system FOREVER. life time-money back and all that. Finally did this in my car. Well worth the 200 if you've looked into getting this replaced... It can cost anywhere from 600-1000 bucks. If you do buy this, please purchase it thru this link.
----- http://newrockies.ca?ap_id=judd0081 ----- With this fix, you can take that whole Vats, passlock, passkey system out of your car all together. Good info on both sites.

It works for:
Any GM or Isuzu Vehicle with VATS or PASSKey or PASSLock security systems.
If your car has the chip in the key or in the lock cylinder, then you can save it with this Full Bypass.
It works for, but is not limited to:

There are others that should not be answering because they don't know anything.
The blend actuators are electric and they are on the passengers side. The drivers is on the bottom, if dual zone the passengers is on the top.

This is not the problem but to clarify, the ambient temperature sensor is below the front headlight. There are 2 there, one is for the rear view mirror. The interior temperature sensor is in the drivers headliner.
