2005 Porsche Boxster Questions & Answers
I just purchased a 2005 Porsche Boxster with 13000
hi,
Try this procedure. Porsche can be hit or miss with reset procedures. Sometime a Porsche scan tool is needed.
1. Enter the vehicle and make sure that all doors are closed.
2. Push the odometer reset button while turning the ignition key on.
3. Continue holding down the odometer reset button for approximately 10 seconds until the "Service Reset" message appears in the information center.
4. Release the odometer reset button and press the reset button on the bottom of the wiper stalk.
5. It may take a few attempts with this procedure.
6. If the light is not reset, then a Porsche compatible scan tool will be required to reset it.
Rear wing failure
See if the manual switch in the fuse panel cover will operate wing....also check for obstructions....noise....it should raise at about 42 MPH and lower when stopped. I am assuming the error message is indicated on the instrument cluster?....
Adding aftermarket alarm
Can you give a bit more detail? The wire state is on/off it's not controlled by some amount of resistance
Scanner code P 2231
Auto Zone, or any other parts store would have the key to all automotive vehicle codes, as would any mechanic or dealer service dept.
How do I remove the radio for a 2005 boxster
if u look at the bottom of the center console that's carpeted towards your feet (driver and pass sides) there is a screw (torque). once u take them out there will be 2 more smaller ones. pull the leather side panels on each side of the radio off pulling towards u, then there will be 2 more torque screws on each side of the radio that only turn about 1/4 in. to hold down side brackets that hold the radio in place, once each screw is turned then u can pull the radio out
PSM failure with Boxster
I had these problems on my 2005 911 when the battery died. Apparently when it goes IT GOES. I had no problem with the battery until this time and then suddenly it was dead.
I've heard since that this is common on Porsche 996 when the battery is dead and then is should also be the case with the 986 Boxter since these 2 share a lot of components.
I removed the old battery and left the car without a battery for at least 30 minutes (while doing some other maintainance). Put a new battery in and no problems after that. On most cars if you disconnect the battery for like 15 minutes the maintainance computer resets its self and all warninglights should dissapear unless there is a real fault, then the appropriate light should come back on!
Good luck.
Slick.
Oil life reset
if you want to reset by yourself, you can turn to a oil reset tool( you can search it at
careucar), that will be easy to do.
My battery on my 2005
It would be better for the battery to trickle charge it, although jumping it has been a fine and standard practice for cars as long as they have had batteries.
