Your battery is probably bad. Just because you have enough power to use the lights / accessories doesn't mean you have enough power to start the engine.

you should look under the cover behind the seat on the floor.There are 4 phillips screws remove the cover and there is a shifter coupler.Look if it has a play (the plastic is worn out) or the little 3mm allen screw bolt is loose.If ok look at the shifter tower bushing.

you can buy v long magnetic pickups,or long flexible grab claw,you push in knob at one end,and a claw comes out at other end.very useful.Tip car upside down,leave it there,or can you take off panels underneath,to get access?

I ADVISE that you NOT Repair this in ANY way OTHER THAN Connector to Connector REPAIR Locate the Other End and if it Does NOT Have a Connector THEN and ONLY then Do you RESORT to SPLICE Procedure and ONLY USE "SHRINK" Type But CONECTORS For SPLCING These WIRES Together. ANY type of Repair Such as Just Connecting PIN by PIN IS ASKING for MORE INTRACATE Problems. also PLAIN **** Connectors WRAPED in Electrical Tape Is NOT Recommended For WIRING of IMPORTANCE. With All Due RESPECT I Only Have Posted this (RECOMENDATION) after Experiencing the AFTERMATH of POOR Wiring Repair PRACTICES
