my 1998 Mark 8 drove fine last nite went to start it today n it wont start just clicks and reads check traction control, Looked in the book n says total traction control system shut down. What do i do?
the car should still start even with somthing wrong with the traction control. sounds like you have a dead battery. i would check it first. and if battery is dead charge it and start the car then take it to your local advance auto and have the altinator checked thay do it for free. if a charged battery dont start the car then you may have a bad starter. again the traction control light will not keep the car fromk starting

I've removed the passenger door panel and I can see and feel the door ajar switch on the bottom of the latch assembly. I've removed the electrical plug for the switch but I can't figure out how to remove the switch? I can barely get two fingers on it. I thought maybe it twists out to the right or to the left. Do I have to remove the entire latch assembly in order to get to the door ajar switch. I can't figure out how to remove all of the linkages for the door handle, door lock, and push down rod inside the car. Holy ****!

If you are getting the door ajar message you don't have to rplace the switch. Just spray it out good in the latch area with WD40. This will clean the switch contacts and make the message go away. I was a former Lincoln/Mercury mechanic and I used to see this problem on a daily basis. This was the Ford fix for this problem and the one I used on my own 98 mark VIII.

1 Solution for "98 mark viii new climate control unit but not blowing heat or ac with new blower motor speed control"
I'm assuming the problem is the blower motor isn't coming on or working. 1st, check the fuse. 2nd, remove the glove box or pull the 2 tabs that act like stops when it's open ( the glove box will open out further) and you'll see the power plug connector for the blower unit. Turn on the blower through the climate control (heat, A/C, or whatever) and wiggle the connector to see if the blower turns on. If starts working, then an easy solution is pull the connector off and gently press the prongs together or inward. Then carefully reconnect with damaging the prongs. This worked for 96 Mark VIII due to the fact the prongs were not "seating" correctly in the female connector. It's been about 2 years since I did this and the connection is still good. If wiggling the plug doesn't work, pull the plug, turn on the climate control (heat, A/C), and check for voltage to the plug. That's about all I can help with.

my fan isn't blowing in my 98 lincoln mark viii. fuse or something more?
Radiator fan or AC blower motor? The blower motor will have a fuse and a relay. The radiator fan is controled by the Variable Relay Control Module and temp sensor.... the module is located behind the grill---hope this helps.

fuses where removed from my car and its trying to start but won't.
IGNition fuse, ECM fuse, FUEL pump fuse, or whatever the equivalents are in your vehicle. For fuse rating, if the number is not printed right next to the fuse holder, check your owner's manual.

When I push the gas cap button I hear a sound but the door doesn't release.
There is another release in the right rear passenger side of the trunk. A little WD-40 on the latch will help.
