Lincoln door latch adjust

On a car of this age you usually have wear at the door hinge and the door starts to sag and it will make it hard to open and close. Find a local body shop, they should be able to change the hinge with either a new part or a good used part to improve your door operation.

1986 Lincoln Town Car drag shifts 1st to2nd. I just drained refilled trans, new filter and gasket, What would make the 1, 2 shift point go up to about 2500 to 3000 rpm's? it finally shifts then acts ok

I am not familiar with your specific car. However I would suggest checking the fluid level of the trans. If you do not have one get an owners manual or repair manual and make sure you are performing the check correctly. Some transmissions require a hot check, some require that you cycle through the gears just before checking, things like that. If there are special instructions you are not following you may not have refilled the trans to the proper level.

Location of voltage regulator

Most are integral that is built on to the alternator 1 modular plug. Some did have a external regulator 2 individual studs and 1 wire module plug. If it is that style then look on battery side could be on radiator support or front apron.

Idels normally then just starts going way too high

Sounds to me like you have a idle position sensor bad. That is common on a 302 Ford engine. Very inexpensive part under $40.00 at autozone and only two bolts holding it in. Let us know if you get it fixed. Thanks Robb

Gas guage doesnt work

It sounds like a problem with the fuel gauge sender unit in the fuel tank which has worn out and gone open circuit and needs replacing. Access to the unit is usually through a removable plate in the floor in the rear of the vehicle. Disconnect the wiring connector and any hoses and then remove the securing screws. Replacement is done by reversing procedure.
