not sure on model but that sounds about right my mercedes cruses at 80mph at just over 3000 revs so sound right to me hope this helps ivan

might be the Fuel Pump Relay. They get intermittent like this. If it was never changed, I'd start there

Does the check engine light come on when you turn the key on ?

I guess anything is possible as far as what the alarm can do.But I doubt it can lock up the transmission.You did not say what year or model Lincoln, but you should be able to put the trans in neutral and roll it if the brakes are not applied.Any chance the shifter cable is broke and the transmission shift rod is not actually being moved ?

They are there, you can't see them unless you look through the wheel well opening.

If your model has a large black box mounted near the radiator it is inside that module. The relay is not available separately.

Besides being illegal to do so,just leave whateveryou referring to the way it was.Things many not still be working, after more than30 years,but you worry about tha,t come inspection time.The diagram should be up under the hood, on the Federal Emissions Label,remember why it is there,leave things was required
