New battery and alternator car keeps dying
you maybe running a slow idle speed. When the alt kicks in to charge the battery- your engine may slow down to the point it dies from speed issues, or because the over all voltage available to the solid state ignition goes below 9volts. (it's minimum requirement to fire)

That should be easy for you. Ign sw,safety sw,ballast resistor if you have one,bad ground at coil. How about starter solenoid wires on wrong terminals. Did the old starter work as wired now!! How about a schematic to make this go away quicker. Iam a 60's guy also like the mk111 . Wife has a 2004 LS

The positive battery cable goes from the battery to one side of solenoid.(big nut). The cable that goes to the starter connects to the other side of solenoid.(big nut). Sticking out the front of the solenoid there is 1 or 2 smaller terminals. There should be a single wire (approx. 14ga or 16ga) that breaks out of the harness near the solenoid that has a black "L" shaped "push" on connector on it. Push that connector onto the small terminal on the solenoid marked "S". Hope this helps. Good luck.

Try Checking the Bendix or look for a Relay Solenoid on the Fender well from inbetween the Battery and the Starter.
