Hi, A service center just recommended an engine
I'm guessing they mean the cooling system. It is a good idea with any engine to have it flushed periodically. Permanent antifreeze is not permanent. It needs to be repaced regularly and it is a good idea to flush the system to clean out loose gunk when you do this. Unless Jaguar says NOT to do it, it should be done especially if it has never been done on your car. Hope this helps.

I'm experiencing rough/rocking idle of the engine.
check for air leaks or vacuum leaks around intake at the throttle body, be sure the rubber on the plastic of the air intake is sealing on the throttle body. may also have bad valve cover gaskets allowing oil into spark plug holes deteriorating the coil boots and causing a misfire.plugs will be good til about 80,000miles

I put in a new battery and the alarm remote does
Couple of times when you replace the remote battery, you might
have them not working/ responding but just follow the procedure below.
Stand
close to the car, hold down the open and close knobs for about 10
seconds. Press them at the same time for 3 seconds; then press the open
button as the car opens.
The above procedure is applicable to a lot of car brands. It does not matter how many knobs you might have on the remote fob.
I have carried this procedure out on a lot of brands ranging from Honda, Toyota, Rover, Ford, etc. and it works perfectly well.
Good luck and Rate this.
Cheers

I ran out of gas and after fueling the car it
if you ran completely out of gas you may have harmed the fuel pump, the gas is what keeps the fuel pump bearings lubricated.there is one thing you can try that has work alot of times in my line of work, the pump could just be stuck and you have one chance to get it going again, have a friend try to start your car while you hit the bottom of the fuel tank with a hammer, sometimes this vibration will unlodge the pump

Xj8 engine management light has come on
Do you want to repair the vehicle, or just want to know what the light means?
If you want to repair, take the car to an AutoZone or O'Reilly's and have them read the codes. WRITE THEM DOWN, and report back here.

Where do you add trasmission fluid to a 2001
because of the sensitivity of some of these higher end cars i strongly recomend that you take this car to the dealer and allow a jaguar trained tech instruct you on this. youll be happier for it.

The car stops suddenly and goes into FAILSAFE
sounds like an ignition module issue and lazy mechanics. please you have a high end car, take it to a high end professional. other issues could include fuel pump and/or relay. be careful out there. everybody is a "mechanic"!

Upon start up it seems electrical or computer
this vehicle has it's battery located in the trunk. that's a long run to the starter (resistance). have someone with a meter put a load on the battery. That's the place to start (and probably end).

My 97 xj6 sunroof is not working it is 1/4-1/2 in
yes. that is if the cables are not completely shredded. your car came with a tool that sort of looks like a figure "S". the roof center panel in front of sunroof pops off. you can then fit the tool into the socket and manually turn until roof is closed. (you can find this info in the owners manual)

Where to check transmission fluid on a 2001 jaguar
If there is a red dipstick, check it from here.
If no dipstick, then you will have to go from underneath and look at tranny. There will be two plugs on tranny. A lower drain plug and upper fill plug. You can remove the upper fill plug, put finger in the whole and you should be able to feel the fluid. If not, add some, You can use a rubber hose and funnel or top with hose on bottle to help fill it up

My 1997 jaguar xj6 blows air but no heat. Can
the only thing that can change the air from hot to cold, or vice versa is the blender door. under your dash is a box which has 2 compartments. one with your heater core which is hot and one with ac which is cold. the blender door basically diverts which on the air in your car is being drawn from. if it is cold, air is moving on the ac side. if its hot, air is moving through the heater core side. if its warm, the door is in the middle. your temperature control knob is conecteted to an actuator, which moves that door. the actuator is a motor, but if it goes out, the door will be stuck on whichever side it is on. i would check that first. hope this helps

When I come to a stop there is a click just as the
Your dealer is most likely correct, it may be a worn suspension bushing or another suspension component and the sooner you get it repaired the cheaper it will be (quite apart from any potential safety/handling issues).
When the car has stopped the drive train and diff are no longer operating, so the sound which you describe almost certainly isn't anything to do with those components.
Diff fluid on most cars these days is intended to be for life. Unless major work is needed it does not normally get drained and replaced, but it does need checking at major services anfd topping up if need be. Ensure the car is on level ground with a near empty boot (US=trunk) undo the hex plug on the rear diff casing. Pop your finger in the hole and check the fluid on your finger. If it's like used, black engine oil then something is seriously wrong and you'll need to investigate further. It should look almost like new fluid and be up to the level of the plughole threads. If not then top it up using the correct oil grade for your area of the world. Filler bottles are squeezy and have a flexible long necked spount which you can pop into the plug hole. Squeeze the bottle until the oil drips out of the hole and replace the plug using a new sealing washer. be careful to correctly tighten the plug:too tight will strip the threads and too loose will cause a leak and a worn out diff.
For specifics, buy yourself a Haynes manual for your car: it will pay for itself with the very first job which you use it for.

2001 Jaguar xj8 cell phone
Have you contacted jaguar to be sure the car is wired?
Just because there is a phone symbol on the stereo means nothing.
They all have that.
Go to Jaguars web site and email them with you cars VIN number and ask if the car has been prewired.
they will get back to you in about in 2 days and let you know.
If the car is wired, see
here.
