Oil pooling around spark plugs
You will need a rocker cover gasket set which comes with the main rubber seal and 6 sparkplug seals. they tend to harden over time and leak. You need to ensure that the cover is tightened down evenly to get a good seal.
Why won't my car start? no lights interior/exterior.
It seems that the battery is incapable of holding a charge. You might try disconnecting the battery cables and try charging the battery again over night. Reconnect and see if anything works - if nothing works - it's time for a new battery.
Locked out of trunk
If the electric release button and the key do not work, you may have to remove the back seat and try to gain entry that way.

i presume this is a x300 series, you should hear a click from the gear selector area when you press the brake pedal with the ignition on, if not the park release soleniod is not working, the common cause of this is the brake pedal switch faulty, you can manualy release it by removing the little star shaped plug near the gear lever and inserting a small object like a screwdriver or your key, then select N and start engine,
Auto piston not firing
Replace the corresponding spark plug and coil on plug assembly. Also verify good continuity at all connections.

Check the crankshaft position sensor, it's on a small bracket on the front of the Aj6 engine, you may have disturbed it or your new balancer may be a different diameter and the gap between the pulley and the sensor is incorrect or the 1996 sensor may have a different position to the 2000. This sensor controls the ignition timing.
My XJ6 jaguar won't start has a new battery
problem with security locking module located in boot fuse box. a simple check switch ignition on, the check engine light should stay on, it should only go out when engine starts. if it goes out with the other lights check for water ingress or poor connections on the ecm module,located o/s lower A post. a common problem was corroded wiring under the bonnet front o/s. under the washer bottle filleri assume this is a x300 car hope this helps.
