WHAT IS THE CODE P0341

This P0341 code basically means that the powertrain control module (PCM) detected a problem with the camshaft signal. The camshaft position sensor (CPS) sends a specific signal to the PCM for Top Dead Center on the compression stroke as well as signals indicating the position of the cam sensor. This is accomplished through a reluctor wheel attached to the camshaft that passes by the cam sensor. Any time that the signal to the PCM is inconsistent with what the signal should be, this code is set. NOTE: this code can also be set by extended cranking periods. FB.init("dd7d9e9681341cde77587bc6a2029f6f"); OBD-Codes.com on Facebook Symptoms The car will likely run with this code set, as it is often intermittent and also because the PCM can often operate the vehicle in "limp-in/limp-home" mode even with a cam sensor signal problem. There may be no noticeable symptoms other than:
  • Poor fuel economy (if engine runs)
  • Possible no start condition
Causes A code P0341 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Cam sensor wiring routed too close to spark plug wiring (causing interference)
  • Poor wiring connection at cam sensor
  • Poor wiring connection at PCM
  • Bad cam sensor
  • Damaged reluctor wheel
Possible Solutions Often relacing the sensor fixes this code, but not necessarily. Therefore it's important to check the following:
  • Check that the wiring isn't routed too close to any secondary ignition components (coil, spark plug wires, etc.)
  • Visually inspect the wiring at the sensor for any burn marks, discoloration indicative of melting or chafing
  • Visually inspect the cam sensor for damage
  • Visually inspect the reluctor wheel through the cam sensor port (if possible) for any missing teeth or any damage
  • If reluctor isn't visible from outside the engine, visual test can only be done by removing cam shaft or intake manifold (depending on engine design)
  • If all checks out okay, then replace the sensor.

96 saturn sl2, sometimes wont turn over, sometimes starts fine

It sounds like it's time to get your car a new starter. But you might want to clean and make sure that your battery terminals have a good connection.and, that your battery and alternator aren't going bad. auto zone will test those things for you for free if you take your car to one of there stores.that way your sure you are fixing the right problem.

Car cut off in middle of driving would not start again. What's wrong?

I had this happen to me. It was the ignition module, an inexpensive fix as well. The module is located normally at the bottom of the distributer and in other locations that are model specific

My throttle body on my Saturn SL2 is NASTY!!

That could be why: So little air may be getting through, that it is causing it to run very rich. First thing to do, while the engine is running, spray a little of that EFI cleaner down the throttle body. Then, IMMEDIATELY, shut the engine off (You don't want tar going INTO the engine). After that, try and get the throttle body off, and CAREFULLY scrape away the road ****. Don't damage the injectors. Clean it nice, and see if it runs a bit better. Best wishes, and I'm curious how it got so much build up! It could cause worse problems down the road if there is tar in the engine ...

1996 Saturn SL, Heater fan runs fine but no heat. Starts with a tad of heat then blows cold. Any ideas?

The plenum may be cracked, check for air blowing out where it should not, or the blender door is not opening, a cable sheath may have popped loose, or the heater core itself is clogged with leaf debris blocking air flow..

A plug with 2 hoses and 2 wires fell out when i took the starter off.

It is likely a canister purge solenoid. It should relocate on the evaporative emissions carbon canister.

My car is using a lot of oil. Adding 1 quart every 3 to 4 hundred miles. Can not find any leaks under the car or around valve cover. Does not smoke. Any idea?

All I can tell you is that it is either leaking it or burning it. You need to find out which. It may be drawing into the intake through the PCV system. Check your PCV valve.

Crank sensor on 96 saturn sl2

I believe the Saturn has a cam timing sensor, not a crank sensor. It is located right below the head, accessable from underneath the car. It controls your injectors etc.
